This has been suggested by a few members and now we have it!!!! A members map that users can put a "pin" on and show the area that they live in. There are so many positive things that can come from this member map it's hard to list them all.
Here's how you add your pin to the map:
1 = Click on the "
Profile" link in the header section of the forum
2 = Look on the left side and scroll down under Modify Profile and click "
Forum Profile".
(If you don't see the options on the left, look at step 2a and click the small arrow to make the links show up.)3 = Scroll down to the
MEMBER MAP and use the zoom in (plus / minus in the lower right corner of the map) to find your location. Click once on the map to put a pin at your location.
4 = Click "
CHANGE PROFILE" to save your pin location.
If you move or ever want to change or remove your pin location, go back in to your profile and click the pin once to remove it / relocate it. To see the MEMBER MAP, click on the MEMBERS MAP link in the header section of the forum (near the top of the page).

That's pretty neat. Also kinda helps if you're looking for someone who can look at a car for ya!
Nice addition, especially for us who are visual learners! :cooldance: :bravo:
That's a cool feature. :bradsthumb:
I like it !!
Keep up the good work and thanks !!
I did my profile, how do look to see where everyone is located? Thank step by step
I found it. LOOK A LITTLE HARDER lol
Very cool feature Cody! Thanks man!
What a great feature! Thanks Cody!
I would suggest NOT putting the pin right on your property. Just put it on or near the town you live in. No need to advertise that you have a cool old car in the garage. :alan2cents:

Very good suggestion!
I put my pin where I was at the time which happened to be an island in the middle of the lake I live by! Works for me! :clapping:
I pinpointed my exact house...I tried to get as close to the upstairs office where my computer is ......but I should actually be in the garage...Break's over....gotta go :foul:

I LITERALLY KNEW that you would do this... :)
However, I wholeheartedly dispute that you did this "at the time" you were there as you made that comment at 10:30 AM EST and we both know you had just woken up and made that post while you were waiting for your tea kettle to warm up. ;)
Pics or it didn't happen... ;) lol!!!

Exactly. I originally zoomed right into my property then realized it wasn't such a good idea so changed it to the nearest intersection.
No problem pinning my place...........good thread..............
Another unique innovation just like our e-bodies
Cool, done.
Cool feature, added mine! Can't wait to see if there will be more members from Quebec!
Ben
I'm on. :)
Pretty quiet on the West Coast.
Cmon Western's.
Let's show our "Strength In Numbers"
Hard to believe , that at least for now, I'm the only one in Southern California and in particular in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
Really cool feature. Plus it was easy to do. That was a bonus. :ohyeah:
Great idea for those looking for new rides or even setting up a meet & greet cruise.
I know Mike has been begging me for a bit now.

Well, you know. Not that many people in that area.....
Marc,
Are you on TV show now, Wicked Tuna?
Where are all the Swedes?
we had google come through a few years ago to do the virtual tour of the dealership. it never launched or made it to our website. but at least the restrooms made it onto the web.!!! :haha:
Cool feature Cody.
Cheers!
Mickm
I watched that dang map for hours waiting for one of the little pins to move when someone went for a drive!!! :pullinghair:
Great idea Cody...I put mine on my car not where I live... PA needed more pins for mopar!!
Have to laugh....If you go to your own profile, your location comes up on a "real" Google Earth picture......Our house has an air plane flying over our house in the picture.....Every odd day we're right in the flight path of Toronto International Airport....We often complain to each other about the amount of air traffic.... Figures our picture would be blocked by an airplane :)) :))
Very cool....I just realized you can change the "MAP" into "Satellite" view as well......Neato !
My pin is actually right on the garage......if it only knew.... :haha: Pool may be more accurate 8)
Hey, I'm right next to Teds Famous Chicken. Actually put mine close to where I hope to be in a couple months in NC. :rebelflag"
Alan,
That is too cool! 8)
Cheers!
Mickm
I'm currently the king of Missouri! I am sure there are others out there as there are some nice cars around here.
688 members
84 pinned locations...
Lotta members keeping secrets...
You know how impossible it is, to put a little pin on the little screen such as your mobile phone? Anyway, it's close enough. Even if it does have me located out in the middle of the highway.

I did mine, then changed it to satellite, must be an old picture because the addition is not on my shop!
Bill
I put this new member-map feature to good use today. Had a trip on and noticed that my route went right past Shane Kelley's "pin". So I contacted him and found out it was less than a 10 mile deviation from my route. Easy directions to his place and there he was out front cleaning up a new 8.75" center chunk for his '71 Cuda. Overstayed my visit making my overall trip take a lot longer, but I'm glad I did as I got to meet another member that I otherwise would have missed if it were not for this member-map. Thanks Cody! Thanks Shane! :bigthumb:
:iagree: This feature is going to make travelling awesome. Another reason why this is the best site on the net. Good job Cody. :ohyeah:

This is definitely the busiest non automotive thread here, very unique and obviously popular.
Look at that, 100 members have already pinned their location on the map!! :veryexcited: Great feature!!
I'll look in to it. :bigthumb:

Whaddaya think about shortening up the space between all of these links at the top so that it makes one, neat line across the top?
Just my :alan2cents: of course!
I see so many e-bodies at our local shows, yet I'm on an island, there is no one remotely close lol to the west is our Colorado friends who are 8 hours away, to the east is burdar who is the closest at about 4 hour drive, no one South, no one north lol where is stein, I know he's only 1.5 hours lol that would make it feel A little better :deadhorse:
Scott, it sounds like maybe you should become a "recruiter". Get some of those EBO business cards made up and start spreading them around locally.
Anyone that wants to pass out cards at local shows I would be happy to send a couple dozen of them. :grouphug:

Also, some people will still have 2 and even 3 lines of heading tabs. It all depends on your monitor size, font size settings and pixels. A neat tip if you want to change the size of your screen. Hold down "Ctrl" and hit the Minus or Plus keys (- or +) to adjust the size of your screen.

Ah - you posted this as I was typing my response. :) I keep myself a little distant from the screen since I stare at it for 9+ hours a day, so I keep things at the normal (100%) zoom to reduce strain. :)

You can also hold the Ctrl button and scroll with the mouse wheel.
We moved 2 tabs and the replaced them with the Resources and Member Map. So that is why it grew. Even at a 0 space setting it still does not fit on one line. Plus we have a few more really cool features that we will be adding to the heading in the next year or two so it's going to grow again. If it makes you feel any better, it is 3 lines on one of my home computers that has a normal old monitor.
just found this. this is awesome. looks like I'm the farthest north in Canada so far!
Still can't believe there is only two of us in Southern California. We used to be the car capitol of the world lol
I know a few of our members are down in the LA area. I'll see them at Spring Fling :bigthumb: :pokeeye:

You still do and are also technically correct, I was just relating to articles like these that have a different perspective:

I lived in Okeechobee Fla a while back and they let you use alias names if you wanted to , I used Homer J. Simpson , they sent me a letter at renewal time saying they would not let me use that name again.
The Jerk is one of my all time favorites!! Sorry can't have one without the other.
Nice Feature!!!
So I thought I would bring this back to the top for all our new members.....We have about 1100 members who haven't pined their location....if you're worried about security, pin a location nearby....no big deal....
Come on guys...lets fill the WORLD with green pins
Good timing too! We just updated the Google maps. Let's get some more pins! :grouphug:
I need to admit something to you, All. I've been stalking our Member Map. That's right, I visit our Member Map Feature regularly to isolate that moment when we hit 300. We've had 299 Members pinned on our Member Map for ~ 2 months now and I'm just dying for it to turn over, just like an odometer hitting a big milestone... someone save me! :))
