Title: 1974 Barracuda for sale...
Post by: ViperMan on September 02, 2019, 09:15:22 AM
What do you guys think about this one?

Not the motor I'm looking for by far, but on the lower end of the price spectrum...

good color
Good documentation
Looks great
Very decent options

Better price!

Not bad really in my opinion.  Looks like a better deal than I have seen lately for a 2-4.

Wow that engine bay brings back memories of my 74 when purchased in 83.
Manual brakes. Even the overflow tank.
Looks good in pics.

If you are planning engine swap. It has the small core support opening.

Mike.

@YellowThumper (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/yellowthumper_324) can you elaborate?

Came with 22" radiator, you need to change the core support side panels to put in a 26" radiator for better cooling with a bigger engine, can be done but means cutting and welding.

I cooled a 426 Hemi for many years using a 22 inch rad so it isn't a deal breaker. I like the looks of the Cuda in question. I don't trust other people's engines anyway so if I wanted more power I'd swing out the 18 and install a roller cam, stroker, 360 if I wanted to make it to school on time. This Cuda looks better than most.

Mine has the same small opening. Mine was actually a 19" radiator factory. They just added an extension plate to radiator to fit 22" opening. Belief is that only the passenger side is different. All different now but long ago I put a 26" in it. Drivers side bolted in and made a simple plate to adapt existing holes to wider radiator. Factory 26" shroud also worked correctly for alignment.
A bit of the radiator does get shrouded. However,  the current  "small" opening will flow more air thru it than any size radiator ever will.

Pay Goody to go and inspect.

If it doesn't need paint and it's not full of Bondo and doesn't show signs of rust, BUY IT!!!

It does look like a good deal. I agree, not full of Bondo , I would seriously think about it.

I know a lot of the Dallas Mopar club guys. I'm on the judging staff of the Labor Day show they just had. I've never judged that car, however. It's not in the class I judge. I sent the link to my bud who lives in Rockwall. He may know the car. He's one of the main organizers of the show. I'm sure he would help you out. I need to call him today so I'll post later. I'm out of town traveling right now.

Hey @Fastmark (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/fastmark_1648) !!  So the owner of this car never joined the Dallas Mopar club - he said he thought about it but just never got around to it.  He did however say that he was invited to a car show "recently" (honestly I don't remember when it was) and he took second place despite being parked next to a beautiful Hemi Cuda clone.  He said he got a LOT of positive feedback about the car.  It honestly sounds VERY good and I am actively pursuing it.

Love the car, this is the closest one ive seen to my dads. Not knowing my dads fender tag but it was B5 with the V6W. Only obvious difference is he had the 360 and it would have been canadian specs. But really like that car, if you buy it i'll swap ya for a pcp 72 340 challenger?  :)

Mr. Goody is going to take a look at it for me this weekend - if his report is satisfactory, I intend on moving forward.

I have the only thing I really need at this point - approval from the wife.  :)

Dont think of it as you "using" Goody. As I thin Goody is using you as an excuse just to drive his on another trip...

Lol on wife permission. Mine has full understanding and acceptance. Yet there are limits.

Whelp - there's nothing left to do.

The appointment is arranged, Goody's trip is funded, I may or may not have secured funds in case things go well...

All I can do now is wait...

Luckily I'll be back under the Coronet this weekend finishing up some details to get her road worthy, so that'll keep me distracted.  :)
