Hello,
Just want to share a few pictures of progress on our 70 Challenger. This car was originally bought by my brother back in 1977, It was FE5 with Slant 6. His dream someday was to have it restored to the way he wanted it and that is a T/A theme. Unfortunately during the restoration my brother got brain cancer and he gave me the car prior to passing away and asked me to finish it. Some of you may have seen this posted on Facebook already but for those that are not on Facebook here are a few pics.
A Few More
Last ones for now. Once fenders are on we can figure out best wheel size. Right now we are looking at 18" all the way around.
sweet challenger great project .thanks for sharing
70 Chally Vert... whats not to like ? :bradsthumb:
Fresh FK5, What is not to like. :drooling: :1place:
Nice job.
I am sure your brother would have liked it.
Looks great !! Love the color..The carbon fiber instrument panel fits the color nicely...Is that a battery box hidden by the back quarter panel ??
Sorry to hear about your brother.
Great car, love the color. What engine/tranny/suspension are you gonna use?
Your brother would be proud.
You get to remember your brother everytime you work on the car and drive it. Looking :wowzers:
Sorry about your brother. The Big "C" is a bitch. Beautiful work on the car. He would be very proud. Keep us posted on your progress. :clapping:
It will have a built 5.7 HEMI @530HP work was done by Nutter Racing using their Hemitronix setup with a Tremec 5 Speed and using the 8 3/4 Rearend with 4:10 gear. QA1 Front Suspension with Reilly Motorsports Street Lynx Coil Over. I plan on running 18" wheels but I am waiting on the fenders to get installed to do some measurements. The Battery Box is in the trunk but those are my backseat interior panels sitting in there. Thank you all. Ill post up more pictures once the fenders and grill gets installed.

Nice, great setup! I think 18's would look nice, I got 18 rear and 17 in the front (Foose Legends), was on the car when I bought it, I would go 18 in the front if I was buying new ones. I think 20's looks too much for an old car.

Thank you! I am really hoping to be able to fit an 18" in the front.
Few More Pictures!
Fenders and Front Valance on.
Love the colour, but I think you might want to "black-out" the hood latch support as well
:iagree:

Yes, I agree. I May have to twist the painters arm to do it.
Dropped off the car today at Upholstery shop to have the Convertible Top put on. Still have the hood and spoilers to put on along with buttoning up all the mechanical loose ends. Hope to see it on the road in April / May. :unitedstates:
Finally got the hood painted and installed. Still some mechanical work left then hope to the road in May.
Are you going with TA stripes too ?

Hello Anlauto,
Yes, I hope to put them on in the next couple of weeks.
Nice work! Love the color too! , but I don't get the T/A concept on a rag top. :notsure:

That's the point of a Restomod! Also this is the way his brother wanted it to be done before he passed away, may not have to make sense to you but we can all respect eachothers builds& projects http://restomodstore.com/restomod-vs-restore/ if you're still confused on the concept of a restomod give that a read!
Love it!!! Getting so close now. :bradsthumb:
After lots of ups and downs over the past few months trying to finish up the car its about 98% there.
Got Frame Connectors with that new Suspension?
Yes sir.
sweet car!
No side exhaust?
Not too crazy about the gauges. You should checkout the new DakotaDigital RTX gauges. Looks OEM!
Great progress mate!

Thank you!
Yes, it has side exhaust. Boom Tubes, flat style exhaust.
As for the Dash, that's the way I like it. Why have what everybody else has.
Man I LOVE your Challenger.... great job! It's looks awesome! Doing your brother proud.
:bigthumb: You did well. :1place:
fantastic build. The color combo works really well. How does it drive?
Can you show a little more detail of the forward part of the console under the dash? Is that a complete custom unit or converted from something else?
I really like everything I see there. Congratulations.

Thank you everyone. It was a long road and appreciate the comments.
Gzig5, here a few pics of the custom dash and console. Pretty much sheetmetal under a carbon fiber wrap. Console is custom as well its a wood based frame.
Looks great! How was the motor swap? Like the restomod look. Big fan of the TA style. I'm sure your brother would approve
Turned out really nice, your brother would be very proud ! :andyangel: :worship:
Very nice!
Can you provide some details on the speakers in the toe kick panels? On the drivers side isn't the speaker grille close to/conflicting with the parking brake?
Looking great!
You posted first pictures in January, did you complete all this during 2020?
I feel like a snail, been working on mine for 5 years now...
Eric,
Thanks for stopping by yesterday with the Challenger, It really sounded good when you left....
To everyone else looking at theses pictures let me say that there's no way the computer screen can capture just how good this car looks in person....the color, the fit and finish and details are stunning. Stop by anytime.
Great job. Time to put some miles on it. :bradsthumb:

Hello Larry,
The kick panels are from Classic Industries, seeing the parking brake was moved into the console it was no issue.

Thank you! Relocation of the parking brake to the console definitely solves the interference problem!
Took some Golden Hour Photos last night.
Absence of the rear bumper guards is a cool touch  ....I think if I was going to change one thing, I think I would have gone with the 17" rally wheels from YearOne, other than that it looks incredible :drooling:

Thank you ANLAUTO,
YES, it was kicked around to go with that or some Magnum 500's. There are so many wheel combo's to choose from and in the end it comes down to making that final decision. With it being a resto- mod we felt that was it. They are 18" 245/40/18 Front and 285/40/18 on the back. We wanted to fill out the wheel well as much as possible.
Very nice! love the stance and the colour.
I noticed you kept the stock seats. I kept them on mine too but thinking of replacing them to stay in the spirit of restomod.

Yes, If I can find custom seats that give me the same ride height without doing major modifications I may look at that. Then we would need to get an upholstery shop to match the back seats to the fronts. :ohyeah:

Check out the Corvette seats I put in my Barracuda, fits great, very comfortable and adjustable, slight mods of the brackets only.

I wish I had a pair without the Z06 logo though.
Hello All,
Just thought I would throw out an update on our 70 Challenger. Lot's have happened over the past year and looking for more good times. Last year at Carlisle we were fortunate enough to get a photo shoot with Mopar Action Magazine and our car was in the August 2022 issue. Along with the photo shoot we scored a 2nd place in E-Body Convertible class at Carlisle along with a Celebrity Choice pick (Thank you Dave Witt) and a 1st place at Mopar Nats modified E-body class. We have racked up around 2000 miles in the past 2 years. My Brother intended to drive the car so that's what we do. This year at Carlisle in July we were invited into the T Building for "Mopars in the Family". If you are coming to Carlisle please stop by and say "Hi"
Eric
Neat car, will certainly have to check it out :drooling:
Neat phantom.
However, I think that car deserves a nice EFI six-pack induction and six-pack air cleaner.
My $0.02.
It was nice meeting you, car looked great at Carlisle...
