Title: Intake selection
Post by: GoMangoBoys on March 05, 2020, 09:13:17 PM
I have a 383 that I plan to stroke to 432-489. Not 100% sure yet.   I have acquired a series of nice 906 heads for it.  The engine came with a 3830949 intake which I find is a 440 intake from 75-76. Will this intake work on our engine? Is it a desirable choice?  I am not interested in getting the absolute maximum that I possibly can out of the build, so i am sure that there is something better, but will this he decent?  I am going to the Indy swap this weekend so it will be an opportunity to pick up something else if I need to.
Thanks

The Factory intakes are actually decent intakes to the point they were recast in Alum for the aftermarket , other than being heavy it will work well , the next choice would be the Holley street dom , these are not available new for the B block anymore so they are only available used so you might wan tot keep your eyes open while you are at the swap meet

Unfortunately a 440 (RB engine) intake will not work on a 383 or 400 (B engine) block.

Miss that , I agree the 440 intake is too wide for the B [383] block
