Title: 1970 cuda fender turn signals
Post by: pink aar on May 02, 2017, 04:50:21 AM
I'm looking for a nice set of fender turn signals for a 70 cuda. I'm going to paint them. I bought a set on e-bay from a top vendor and they were to short ( new ). So, now I'm looking for a nice set ( originals ), if anyone is willing to sell me a set. Thanks  I put a post up last week and Cody put a few drawing up for me to identify the correct ones. Thanks everyone

Are they the same for all years?  Or are '70s a one year only.  I might have a set in the shed.

Thanks, Cody.  By the pics, the set I might have are '70. I remember that they were painted blue as well.  Let's see if I can find them.

Cody, I have a DUMB question then. Why does the fender have 3 holes then? The drawing of one  of the signals has only  a nut and electrical wire (1970)  . Last week I asked a question about the turn signal drawing (measurement) on the fender you posted for me. A drawing of another turn signal shows a insert for the back hole, a  screw (middle) and then the electrical wire. I'm a little confused? Those 2 look the same for the lens cover. I know the 71 has more of a slope in the back. Someone post 2 picture of the 70 and 71.
Just trying to get the correct ones, without wasting money. YEA RIGHT

Know nothing, but willing to learn

Thanks

Those pictured are 1970 Cuda only. Unique to one car one year. I went through this years ago buying wrong ones in the process.

@pink aar (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/pink-aar_221)   the 3 holes are needed for the screw, wire and half round alignment pin.  Hope these photos help (1970).

Their price for the set is pretty decent too. PG Classics was at $204.00 the last time I checked.

Does the bulb twist out or pull out? I have a buddy who has a 72 Charger & the bulbs are bad. Can anyone advise me?

@ebodydominator the knurled socket twists off and houses the bulb.  The bulb just pulls out from there :)

I received the lights from Krusinmoons over the weekend. The are nice. If you need a set, I recommend you buy a set from them. You will not be disappointed with them.

The picture in Reply #6 shows chrome ones. Was chrome really available with these.
My Parts book doesn't show and distinction between painted and chrome that I can see. Pictures of NOS ones all look to be in primer. I have a pair of chrome ones and am wondering if they're legit.

Thanks
John

@Jay Bee (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/jay-bee_351)

That style, with the lens fully boxed, should be in primer or paint only.  The same goes for '71 'Cuda/Barracuda though the housing itself is a bit longer.

Dodges tended to use a chrome housing, however, there is no bar that goes along the bottom of the lens.  Non-R/T Challengers, Darts, Coronets etc.

And as always, there are exceptions.  I parted out a rusty, original paint '71 Challenger 318 car and it came with '70 'Cuda style painted fender turn signals

Well that answers that, my extra set and the ones in Reply #6 were chromed at one point.

My other tell tale between Cuda '70 & '71 is that 70's are chopped off at the back whereas 71's slope all the down to the fender, but you knew that.
