Long time Mopar fan; I had a new 65 Dodge Coronet 2 door sedan, 426 hemi with Hurst 4 speed as my first new car. Purchased a new 340 Cuda for my wife in 1970; wish I still had those card. Purchased my current Mopar, a 70 Challenger in 1997. It started life as a 340 automatic, but is now a 440 RT clone with Tremec 5 speed.

It's been a 20 year project. Thank God I have a great wife who lets me indulge in this very expensive hobby.

You'll notice the RT side stripe is from a 71; I didn't like the stripe on the 70, so being it's a clone, I can modify to what I like best.

Oh ya! I dig it. That's what's great about doing clones. You can make they as cool as you want. :1place:

The 60's were a great time to have a fast car. Still remember the day I picked the car up from the dealer. My father, who co-signed for me saw the big sticker across the front windshield; it said: Warning, this car is not recommended for street use. I thought he was going to lose it. Three weeks after getting the car, it was in Speedwin Automotive on Long Island getting an Isky cam and ignition work. I had that monster until 1970 when a drunk drive took out the front end while it was sitting in front of my house. Loved that car!!

I'll have to dig them out of some old photo albums. I saw the identical car at Mecum Kissimmee last year and was interested till bidding hit six figures.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/22054c19c6ccb6a9631f8a10f5ac189b.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/b73f6b576c68afc995df397fdecb28ea.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/e7fd8c2457ec60b8f9f4ce110f3ac321.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170403/fee81d2137671ce423e3d0d23bfe9b9f.jpg)

Can't remember name of dealership, but it was in Douglaston (Queens), NY, on Northern Boulevard.

The one I saw at Mecum was a clone built in upstate NY. The owner did a beautiful job on it. Mine I had to order and it took several months to arrive. It was very plain with bench seats, AM radio, posi-rear. The base model started at $2800, with the hemi package and 4 speed being a $1400 option. It was bright red with a red cloth interior.

I sold a 73 Corvette in 1984 because my 16 year old daughter took it out for a joy ride when my wife and I were out. I just told her that I hoped she enjoyed the ride because the temptation was going away. It was time to sell it anyway; it wasn't a Mopar.

Welcome to the site from :canada: and if those pics are a representation of your 65, then it was a rare beast indeed! I just sold my 65 2dr ht last summer and there's a wee bit of me that wishes I hadn't.
