Title: Challenger rear valances all the same?
Post by: xx88man on January 17, 2019, 07:57:27 PM
Is there any difference between a 70 rear valance and a 71? Is AMD better than others on these?

70 has a unique brace inside of the exhaust tips to support the valance , later the braces were part of the valance
73-74 had a raised licence plate brace this will move the plate too far back so the light is behind the plate as the bumper was spaced back also

They will all fit, but has mentioned, they have some subtle changes over the years.

I got an AMD rear valence for my 72, so it has the plate bracket. The plate bracket was welded on very very crooked, i tried contacting amd multi times to advise them of this but never ever heard back.

I bought the AMD 71 valance for my 71 convertible and it needed a fair amount of work.  The bumperette holes didn't line up.  Rather than try to fix them I welded up the holes and didn't uses the bumperettes.

I love the look.  It looks way cleaner, I'm glad I did it people know something is different but can't put their finger on it.

72 should not have the riser for the rear plate as the 72 bumper was flush , only 73 & 74 had the bumpers moved away from body .
I would grind the spot welds & remove the bracket / riser .

There are 6 valances

1970 with cutouts
1970 without cutouts
1971-2 with cutouts
1971-2 without cutouts
1973-4 with cutouts
1973-4 without cutouts

AMD shows 72-74 the same. But yes my plan is to remove the tack welds and remove it
