Normally I get the headliner at the same time as the seats and I use legendary auto interiors. I think

Seats are fun too. If you're not in a hurry Legendary has sales a couple times a year.
I recently saw a video of how line workers installed a vinyl top. I think it was in an AMC plant. They made it look super easy. I couldn't believe how fast they got it done. It would be interesting to see how quickly the line workers were able to get the headliners installed.
Following for any tips as well. I'll be giving it a shot too, I'm good with hard parts, soft parts are a little "iffy".

I like to use the modern sound deadener on the roof instead of the old stuff.
Another tip (not sure if Rick covered this) is to put the screws in place BEFORE you put the headliner in. That way when you go to put the seat belts, visors, mirror, ect... all you have to do is find the screw head, make a little cut and back the screw out. Then it shows you EXACTLY where the screw needs to go back in. Much easier then trying to find the holes where the screws go after the headliner is in. :alan2cents:

I can get you the Legendary Headliner and seat covers.just need to make sures yours isa 5 bow and what material.perfed or sold. DOyou need sailboards ? seat foams ?

There's a guy local to me that installed headliners at Dodge Main. He said they had 9 minutes for the 2 guys to install them. Had a bucket of glue with a brush hooked to his belt. He said it took just under that time to do them.

Good info! I think I've read before where each station had about 3 minutes to install their component before the car moved on to the next station. 9 minutes per car to install the headliner...they had to have had a lot of people installing headliners to keep up with all the cars coming in to that area. Can't slow the line down.

I wish I read the screw tip before I installed mine. Excellent idea. I had to do it the hard way. Still have my upper seats belt to go. I went with hood liner on the bottom of the roof. I was going to use the regular Dynamat but thought this might give a little more thermal insulation from the sun. Pricey stuff!
That's what I use on my cars as well.
I'd like to replace the dome light, which means the headliner has to come at least partially off.
Since all the holes are where they should be, would it mean it's not a lot of bother to put the headliner back once the new dome light and wires have been installed?
I'm feeling a little optimistic here, just wondering if that might be a bit overly optimistic?
You can replace the dome light without disturbing the headliner. Pop the lense off and there are two screws there, Then you can pull it down a bit and undo the connector to it through a hole that is in the headliner.

I just installed my headliner last weekend with help from a friend and just realized I forgot about the metal piece with the teeth in this pic. Sail panels are on and I see where this piece goes and realize that the rear panel screws to it but what are the teeth for?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I want to replace both the dome light and the old wires so I can have new wires all over.

The teeth brackets on the side hold the head liner down on the sides. Just like the teeth in the front window area and around the back.

Hmm. My headliner from legendary didn't hang down that far. I just glued it to panels on both sides. Hope I didn't screw something up..
Headliners are pretty easy. They're main function is to look good and as long it looks good, I'm sure it's fine. :alan2cents:

Just to be clear, the orange car above is a Challenger. The headliner in a Challenger goes all the way down to the rear interior panels. A Cuda headliner doesn't go down that far and uses a vinyl wrapped sail panel in that area.

Trying to put in new headliner, actually Cindy is doing most of the inside stuff, and we were doing great (should have read screw hint earlier) until she got to the sail panel area. She says nothing feels or looks right. If she hooks around window area and then tries to pull sides it unhooks up by window
Did any of you make a video by chance? step by step photos?
We thought the headliner was one part we wouldn't have to change as it was a new one and looked great. I was feeling for the seat belt bolt holes and found a dead MOUSE so it had to go! (car had been stored in a shed for 11 years Headliner was only interior part in it)
I made the mistake of not putting a bolt in for the shoulder belt, now I'm studying pics of body shells and guessing where to poke a hole in my new headliner!

Yeah, I noticed that too about no respirator, makes you wonder how their health was later on breathing in all those paint fumes. Fantastic video.
I tried the link to Restorick's info on headliners but got a server error message. Does anyone happen to have a copy of what he posted? Or do I have to have a username and password for his site to access the info?
