This has to be phony. The dash VIN plate looks funny to me. Did they make them like this?
Here's a shot of my 318 car dash VIN from the same plant.
:iagree: Looks fishy and not the good kinda of barracuda fish either.
Ha, ha, best ever! Not even sure that was a dual exhaust car originally.
Being a r code should there be a Dana with the auto?
a HEMI automatic car from any year can have a 3.23:1 non-sure-grip 8-3/4" rear axle
that VIN tag almost looks photoshopped - I'm not sure what we are looking at :looney: but that's not a factory HEMI car :crazytalk: and it is at $200K+ :headbang:
No fender tag, duplicate title, no engine, trans or rear, and it's up to 200K? Luckily, a few of those bidders have 100% activity with that seller, so most likely shills. I also love how he's just " helping out an old guy" that has no internet. Lol. What a weasel. Hopefully no one gets scammed.
all fake bidding for sure !!
It was ended by seller and states 0 bids to $10K now if you look at advanced section on the bay
This morning, I sent the guy a polite message stating that the VIN looked photoshopped and he should talk to the owner. That could be why he took it down. I don't believe there is an older owner of course.

A.G.Backeast said they could make me a VIN plate for a missing VIN for $345.00. I wonder if that's what they look like?

I just got my VIN plate from A.G.Backeast. There is no comparison between the two. A.G.Backeast :perfect10: as far as a quality VIN plate replacement. No way they did that.
It must be photoshopped. The digits are off center. The tag itself is crusty yet the white lettering is nice and crisp. The letters shouldn't be white at all but even if they were, seems strange that everything faded with time except those digits.
Heck, maybe it was really a hemi cuda. If so, wouldn't surprise me if someone grabbed the vin plate along with the drive train and years later, someone tried to fix this with poor replica tags. Who knows? Usually things too good to be true turn out to be BS.
I'm kind of thinking someone once owned a 71 Hemicuda, junked it, it got crushed but some paperwork survived and they got a duplicate title. Bought a replacement body to resurrect the car based on a VIN #. Kind of like one of the 71 Hemicuda convertibles.
not sure if its fake or not but you can buy those tags on eBay and they will put any number combination you want on it.

Where there is a scam, there is a way ::) :barf:
I know I always store my 71 HEMI CUDA' in a piece of Shite lean two with a blue tarp keeping it safe and weather proof. ::) :takemymoney:
It's back up!
Someone have a link?
Finally a link, I couldn't find it before.....everything looks good to me ;)

yep... :lurking:
as far as I know: when Chrysler originally produced 1B296385 it was a Dodge A-body (Dart/Demon) = L?2??1B296385

Is this actually the story with one of the 71 Hemicuda convertibles?

Yup...I believe it was one of the export ones originally, France maybe  . It was "restored" actually recreated by a restoration company in Quebec

How are they getting away with this? Did they have that fake looking vin tag made and got a title from it?
The body stampings are even double stamped?
The VIN# are not stamped or raised, looks like there were printed on a flat piece of metal. :foul:
The VIN on it is BS23R1B296. It is a rebody flim flammed to get a title. At least he states it has been rebodied. I guess someone is going to buy it and get a better tag and fix it up and flip her for big bucks. Also, as stated here an A body VIN buried in it too. A real mess.
It's at 22.3K with 2 hrs to go. Luckily the top 4 bidders appear to be shills. This auction has to be illegal. Nowhere does he state this was never a hemi car. On the contrary, he says the car is an original R code car. Very misleading.
I wrote to him on eBay asking for a picture of the title from 1987. He asked for my number to "give to the owner". Of course, haven't heard from anyone.
