Trying to come up with something we can give to E-Body owners at shows. :help: Just a simple way to let them know we're here. But we've all become a little numb to people handing out flyers at car shows so I'm trying to convey that they have been specially selected. Need some feedback and thoughts on the text and layout. Any better way to let them know they are welcome to join us?
I'll make some little 2"x 3" stickers for all of us too.
What about something like this for the front? What should the little trophy say?
Also, try to picture yourself at a car show and what would you think if you found one of these cards on your windshield or door?
Maybe E-bodies ought to have a booth at the main shows? Hand out some freebies/literature/cards. Then you could possibly sponsor a "cool car" prize. Once you build credibility and name recognition, people will line up to join in on the fun. I'm a little worried about just placing unsolicited cards on people's car. :alan2cents:
Perhaps the trophy should read - "1st Place"
Not a bad idea,
I think the card that captures the friendliness of the group is the smiley with the trophy. :D I really like the idea and worst case scenario is that someone tosses it in the trash before reading it...
Filling in the placard with '1st Place' sounds fun and yet, I wonder if it would cause confusion for the Show hosts- someone might think they won the Show and goes to collect their prize! What about something light-hearted like "E-Bodies Rock"...not the best idea but, maybe that suggestion jars someone else's thinking free to come up with something better.
I like the sticker size you proposed- nice & small, can have many applications!
When you designed the current logo, did you ever consider putting a Cuda on there as well ?
Every time I see it I think of my metal man's card....He does a lot of custom cars as well as bikes.
Yes, the Cuda was an option, but started with the longer length of the Challenger to allow more space left to right. Maybe we'll do another Cuda logo with the same design for some custom stuff. It would look really close to the same logo and probably work well too.

Well, to be frank and this is just MY opinion - I don't think cards and stickers are needed at all. I prefer to tell someone about this site after getting a chance to see their car and/or visit with them. Word of mouth is much better than the printed word(sorry sign guy) and it's a way to share the site through the flattery of invitation. :alan2cents:
I guess the question is: What is the growth model for this site and how is the goal achieved? Cards, flyers, booths, ads, stickers, will all get you a larger volume of members, but ???
Tom
I share Alan's opinion that the smiley trophy is a bit juvenile. I agree with J-Code Jeni on her 1st place thoughts.
One thing this site has that the other one I'm on doesn't is the reference material, how-to videos, etc. Can we somehow get mention of that on the card?
Are we going for quantity of members or quality? C-C has a lot of members but I did a tiny random audit and about 40% of them have never posted, not even once.
I don't think that going to a show and dropping a card on somebody's seat is the way to go but handing one to people you know might work. I got C-C cards a few years ago and haven't used them near as much as I thought I would.
As many of you know, I work as an instructional designer, involved in making training programs. In my line of work, one of the first things we have to ask ourselves is "What do the people who take this course have to do?" (as opposed to what most would ask, which is "What do the people who take this course have to know?"). So my question would be, before anything is designed, is "What thing or things do you want this car to be able to accomplish?"
I do tend to like the camaraderie that comes with a good group of people who share similar interests, but Alan brings up a great point: a lot of people may not care about that. So what kind of site do folks want, and from that answer, how can a card help achieve that goal? (And the site can do more than one thing, such as provide camaraderie and accurate technical data.)

:iagree: I always found that extremely strange :notsure:
Right now on our E Bodies web site 37% :unbelievable: of our members have never made a single post  Like why join a forum if you're not going to participate ?
Do you have to join in order to view pictures ? I guess that could be one reason :dunno: Otherwise just come here to read and move on.... :tired:
I don't get it... :drunk:
We're a minority of a minority group. Classic Mopar lovers and serious enthusiast.
Is what it is. This site is awesome. And will grow. But it will be a limited community.
Some very valid points guys! :handshake: I'll fine tune the cards a little bit more. We want to become the best site for E-Body enthusiasts and information. From the great camaraderie to the tiniest stamp detail, my hope is E-Bodies.org provides a place for all of us. :grouphug:

This is pretty common. If you break down the people who join any group, typically 10% are active and 1% are very active.
Well I guess my thoughts are quality over quantity , the other site may have had 10,000 + members but maybe 200 active ones , it is understandable that people will access the resources as they build but move on once the car is completed as well . Some of us are here for the friendships & are lifetime hardcore members as the cars will never been done & the people are the real reason to be here .
:iagree:
As most you all know I am a newbie since July 16, cc.com, moved here and still check in on the other from time to time. Yes it would be nice to have 10 to 15 builds going on at one time and as we get more members it could happen. I am getting to know all of you and I have enjoyed just being here. I agree quality should be the goal. When you have the knowledge that you guys have others will come. You can have banners, cards or any type of advertising but the best one is word of mouth. I personally tweet inviting people to visit and join. So if each of us work to reach out regardless of the method this site will continue to grow. Even when I buy parts from individuals I invite them. But to say one thing is good or bad it takes all of us. Just my 2 pennies
Tim
and by the way one more post and I will hit small block :veryexcited: :veryexcited: :veryexcited: :veryexcited:
Just do it. (Remember that old Nike catch phrase lol). But seriously.
There's no perfect answer to anything. cards or flyers or whatever. Just do it.
I like number #2 only because it's double sided and there's more info....
Now if you were to take #1 and put even in plain black lettering a list of notable features of our website, that might be an idea.
Sort of like in point form
*greatest source for E Body Info
*how to videos
*reference photos
*etc...
*etc...
I like #2. You don't want the front to be too busy. Good idea having a Challenger outline and not a Cuda, he, he.
I like number 2 and I think the cards are a good idea. The ACCURATE name of our web address is sometimes difficult to convey. Nothing negative here, it's just easier for them to get it right if they have it in writing.
I agree that I like the second one. I think the problem with having a Cuda is, if it's a simple outline, it looks a lot like a Camaro. The Challenger profile with the crown line is pretty unique. If you wanted a Cuda, I'd suggest giving it a AAR strobe; that would uniquely identify it as a Cuda.
How about a "business card" that is useful to the E-Body owner immediately... a higher price is the main drawback. I am referring to magnetic business cards/signs, and like the Year One approach these would also carry the "Please Do Not Touch" or similar message. Another advantage is that spectators, the guys with "their uncle's Hemicuda" that they inherited would see the "signs" also....
Excuse the rough artwork, just threw something together to convey the idea...
Just
A :)
I'll throw in  I've suggested clings for windows before for members cars, never got any traction...
I'm thinking something like that which is event specific that we or any e-body owner might want to display on their car to commemorate their participation . I see cars sporting window stickers from way back of events they've attended
Window clings can work great. But sometime they are hit and miss in terms of staying on if you put them on the outside. The humidity and rain make them pretty much an interior window item only. And that's not bad, but my machine doesn't print on the material that would be needed to place them on the inside of the window. :sorry:

I think we're getting close!
I like that one ! :worship:
I like that one as well. It states the direction that the forum is following.

Neat Idea, but I don't think it will not work with the Die Cut.

Looks really nice!!
I'm stuck on that word "Resources" and I'm trying to decide if "Resource Material" might better explain the intention? :alan2cents:
That's exactly what I'm looking for. What are the best words to describe our site? I went back and fourth on Resources or Reference.... :dunno: Material works good too.

I like "reference material"
Me too Alan.

I bet you could cheat one side by making one a top down convertible with just a windshield but enough body detail to distinguish a Dodge VS. Plymouth
A Cuda on there would make sense even if you can "die cut" the top. Personally I like the rectangle card with a flat top :alan2cents:

Add a small hockey stick and it would help look more like a Cuda. :alan2cents:
Tom
I dunno: The Challenger shape is pretty obvious. Looking at the Cuda Convt. it could be a few cars. It almost looks Pontiac to me. There is no mistaking the Challenger. I agree on the concept of having both though.
IMO any "stripes" or performance model clues could be perceived as snobbish/elitist/non-all inclusive :Stirring: ..... like the A12 board (good group of guys, but the if it's not A12 we don't care attitude runs pretty strong)
I added the line to be a quick non-professional example, surely someone with computer graphic artistic ability could make it more "Barracuda"
which brings up ..... Barracuda VS. 'Cuda - "car make" VS. "performance model" (only the "base" Challenger is mentioned) :grouphug:

The problem I see is that the Barracuda crown line is straight, but the Challenger has that unique kick up just after the door, which really identifies the car. Combined with the minimalist approach to the art (which I like) it's tough to really differentiate the Barracuda from several other cars. That's the reason that a lot of folks say that the Barracuda looks like a first gen Camaro. I don't agree with that, but I see what they're saying.
We must have posted over each other. I like the new Cuda, Cody. Some folks might prefer that it not be a specific model year, but I dig it.
All very valid points. With my limited skill set on design I have to use the easy and more recognizable body clues to make it work. I'm happy to send the EPS line art to anyone that wants to help take a crack at. :) I'm super easy and happy with whatever we all want to do. Love all the help and ideas. It gives me a lot to work with.
This site has some really friendly and helpful people. I know we focus on E-Bodies, but if any of our members wanted me to look a 1975 truck outside of Spokane, I would do it them. ;) We're all a great group of E-Body fans and everyone is welcome here that likes the Cuda and Challengers. :grouphug:

Does this look like a Cuda? I tried to make it work with the shorter Cuda body but still keep the overall shape. Thoughts?
Also, changed it to Reference and added Library. What's a better description, Material or Library? I like both.

I agree about having one specific year for the Cuda, but it absolutely defines it separate from the Chally. I like this one a lot! :perfect10:
Hmm: That billboard makes it obviously a Cuda. I think it is needed as there is no mistaking it now.
I too: Can see being judged as elitist by a 71 Cuda but the Challenger resists that notion as it is obviously a Challenger but it could be a 74, 318 version so that diffuses that a bit.
build sheet is a GM document
Chrysler Corp. cars have Broadcast Sheets (if they're lucky)
Works for me , the roof line is similar nough to work the stripe makes it obvious ,it doesn't have to be perfect
That looks great with the most iconic muscle car on there the 1971 Cuda BEAUTIFUL :worship:
Reference "library" sounds more upscale and wisdomy. Is wisdomy really a word? :dunno:
you could just have reference information
This IS the best Mopar site ever so far Cody. No drama, more tech and helpful attitudes.
