by plymouth emblem for tail panel
Does anyone repop these ?
If they are, I would like to know as well :alan2cents:
I bought a couple bootleg "By Plymouth" emblems off ebay a couple of years ago out of Florida, I think that company has since been stepped on for licensing issues.
:iagree:
A and A emblem were making a crap ton of emblems and this was one of them. Somebody popped him for infringement and TRI put a stop to him. He could sell to a licensee but could not sell them out right. I even offered to buy 500 and he never returned my emails. Soo at this point there is NO supply point.
cast metal emblem and a chrome process, polish and paint. Expensive to do here in the US as I have looked into this already.
Anyone have any good leads or one to part with , not looking for junk though
There was one for sale in Sweden. $350.00 USD I believe. :alan2cents:
 There's one on e-bay right now for $200.00 '70-'71 CUDA TAIL PANEL

Correct, 1971 only, all Cuda and Barracuda models. The cast pot metal emblem was chrome plated and Cudas should have a multi layer insert that has a black background color and silver lettering. This same casting was used for many applications for many years (not all were 1971) they just changed the insert to the application. So far all of the reproductions Ive seen were a cast metal and were painted, no insert as originals. In other words, if you have a highly detailed car you'll want to spend the money for an original (Yes, rare and expensive). .02
You'd think they could make a "foil" type insert like the 71-74 dash emblems easy enough... :alan2cents:
The insert was a multi layer sandwich of materials which used a now obsolete process, the top layer being a clear protective film. Doing an exact replica would be challenging.
:clapping: I learned something new today! :slapme5:

I've bought plenty of times not remembering or finding the part I already had, I'm having it polished at the moment, then going to have it painted but not sure of the correct black yet
Currently in the process of reproducing these with Classic Industries. They are, by far, having the most accurate emblems of any kind being reproduced today.
This is fantastic news!!!!

As Mentioned above. Classic/OER does have the best emblems available since they are in Bed with FCA.
I've rounded up x1 of my own, Classic needs x3. Don't need perfect, a tab can be broken off. I will replace your sample with a new emblem, free of course.
I hope we can get you the 2 needed so these emblems get made!!

Ill donate mine to help the cause...it has on tab broke in half
I have one . I will look tomorrow and see if I can find it
Looks like mine is missing all the paint.
the silver backed ones are from a Fury or other Plymouth :dunno:
I personally took this one off a 71 barracuda there is still a little black paint on there.
Is that the foil that Scott was talking about? Looks like the foil is faded. Maybe that's why it looks like it doesn't have paint. :notsure:

there were a number of emblems that used the same chromed potmetal frame w/different embossed foil inserts

Yes, those that are silver are simply examples that the black on the foil has faded away. The same manufacturing process was used for all of the inserts used in the day. These Valiant emblems were originals on the same car, one side faced the sun when parked. The Valiant lettering was silver on both, the camera angle makes the first one appear to have dark letters, they were silver.
I have all three, thx guys.
You don't need any more. How long till these are going to be available
anyone have any updates on the emblems ??
Mike @ B E & A is working on them I believe, a few months back he was looking for some original samples to use to reproduce them.
You have nothing to worry about, Mike's a man of his word, the emblems will be made & those who supplied parts will receive new parts..... BTDT & would do it again....
Following this thread. I'm in the market as well

what colour black do the originals have? are they a gloss or more of a Matte black?
The black was under a sheet of clear material (shiny lamination plastic like Mylar) which gave it a gloss finish. It wasn't paint like some of the current reproductions have.

@HEMICUDA (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/hemicuda_27) do you have any more info on the R&D of this from Jeff.?
I do Dave, just emailed him Tuesday when they introduced the "Roadrunner" emblem which uses the same bezel, his response was I would be the first to know and it's in process.
every one I look at is different. can someone show me the correct looking one please?
NOS one's start off black and then they fade over time to a bronzish color.
I've had 2 NOS one's do this so it actually is the correct look.
A little patina is a good thing.

Someone please give me a reason not to buy this? After 3 attempts to make my OEM look nice, well, it doesnt. Very tempting.
I restored one but still bought this, just because. I will post the quality when I get it.

I saw that there were just a handful available and bought one. I don't want to miss out since one is either, very expensive, torn up, or nonexistent.
Should be here next week!

They look nice in the pictures. Great price. If they are as nice as they look in the pictures that will drive the price down on the originals. Some of those guys trying to get outlandish money for nice used ones will wish they had sold theirs a little cheaper when they had the chance.
There's a nice original one on Mofarts right now for $350, and I was thinking that was cheaper then the seller usually asks.... maybe he caught wind of these being available. :dunno:

I just bought the one off of eBay, didn't realize Roseville sold it.
Glad to have an option! I'll likely use emblem tape to adhere it, I don't have the locating holes in my tail panel.

These emblems are the ones made by OER, made correctly with the stamped foil insert. There is a very limited quantity that made their way out of OER at this price, pricing was not correct and will be $49 each starting like now. Get one at this price now before they are gone. I know Mega Parts, Dave (Roseville Chrysler Jeep) as well as us will have "some" at the $34.99 price.
These things are so nice, chances are, you'll see guys pushing them on ebay as NOS.
Interesting. Glad I got in on the party, excited to finish that tail section out.

Dave at Roseville hooked me up. Quick, get them while you can. Hemicuda is correct regarding prices.
darn should have got one when I order stuff from Dave. I didn't see them

OER's MSRP is $49.95 for what it's worth.... :alan2cents:
Anyone that needs these emblems for the members price, you better get them now, there weren't to many that made it out of Classic at the lower price. Very sure Dave and I are the only vendors that were lucky enough to have any left. Not that $50 is an awful price.
Were these embossed aluminum applique's anodized in black ? It would make sense for the varied colors.... :dunno: Sun bleaching is a big factor on anodized aluminum.
Just got mine in the mail, next best thing to NOS.

Yes they do.
stock finally arrived.
very nice emblem with the foil insert. Not just one cast emblem as the previous re pop was.
we now have a few to sell....LOL
So much for the ridiculous priced used ones now
They look really fantastic.
All mine on the original dealer pricing came in today, all those that I have orders from, will ship tomorrow. The price, while supplies last, is $35 plus $7.30 USPS Priority shipping for a whopping total of $42.30. The $300+ NOS pricing for a "by Plymouth" emblem is officially over. I just put the first one on one of my 71's, WOW! :perfect10: And the nuts are included.
one of our customers mentioned he paid 500 per for 2 NOS emblems. crazy.
Got mine, installed it. Very impressed. It looks excellent. Thanks Dave. Get em while you can folks.
