Title: Installing parking & front side marker light pigtails
Post by: HEMICUDA on November 14, 2017, 06:39:51 AM
If any member needing pigtails installed on your Cuda/Challenger, I'm happy to do it no charge. ;)  PG was shipping housings and pigtails separate with the intention of the customer installing them on their own. :verymad:  I have all the tooling and press here to correctly install them.  If you've purchased new pigtails and can't figure out how it install them in your original housing?  Send them to me.  If you haven't removed your original pigtail, don't, I'll do it here, you can easily break the lip on the housing the pigtail is crimped to.

Installing pigtails with the correct tooling is very simple, the turn around time is same day.  FREE to all members because of brother Cody :inlove:, just cover the USPS shipping.

I also have pigtails here I can sell you, same deal on the installation.

PM me here, I'm all over it.

Thanks for bringing this topic up Mike.  :perfect10: You and I talked about this sometime back when I purchased the lenses and the wire harness for the fog lights. I have not gotten that far as yet. Is there anything that should be done to the light bodies before sending off. Probably a month or two away from this, but want to be sure they are in the condition that works best.

thanks

If you're going to have them re-plated, have that done first, then send them to me.

Should I offer a complete parking light restoration service?  Complete with plating & pigtail installation?  Like Cody and a lot of the other people on this forum, I really do enjoy helping with the things I take for granted.  I remember the struggles not having the resources and knowledge in the beginning.  This is by far and away the best ebody website on the planet, it's all about the community and helping each other.

Tremendous offer, I've messaged Mike several times and he's a class act.
My side markers are the way to get the pigtails installed.

My USPS tootsie roll tootsie girl dropped off your front side marker housing late yesterday, they are now sitting in my shipping room waiting on her to pick them up today.  The LED's you had in them didn't work, I had a couple extra LED's in my top left drawer of my desk I installed for you.  They have been tested and work perfectly.  Give me a call so we can square up on the return shipping, your USPS tracking number is 9405503699300134250363.

Also, PG didn't supply you with the rubber washers used between the socket and the outer part of the housing :verymad: (no worries, I have plenty here).  Those are important for two reasons, keeps water out of the housing and allows for a tighter press for a perfect ground between the socket and housing.

IMO . . . for those here whom don't know Mike . . . I just wanted to give a quick shout out to him as he is one of the good guys  :bigthumb:.  I came across him on a different site and ended up having several exchanges with him over the phone.  He offered to crimp my front park / turn signals for my '71 Cuda for me as well, at no charge (keeping in mind that I already had both of my housings, pigtails and lenses, so there was nothing for him to sell me, he was just offering to help).  He even offered to meet me in person since we were only a few hours apart.  I ended up making the drive to his shop (side note for anyone thinking of doing this . . . be prepared, he is an early riser! ).  Mike was nice enough to show me around his shop and let me take several pictures of a '71 Cuda that he was building to be used for reference material later on down the road on my current build.  I ended up spending several hours with him at his shop and had a great time!  He is very knowledgeable and freely offers up his advise and experience :worship:.  He even made me a few great deals on some additional parts that he had at his shop (just don't ask him about the horn set that he sold me . . .  :))).  In addition to this, while crimping my lights, he even added the two rubber washers that did not come with my pigtails, threw in the correct amber bulbs and tested both lights . . . again, all at no charge!  Just thought I would let you guys know that do not know Mike, he is a stand up dude in my book.

Here's another thumbs up for Mike.  I received and installed the 2 front side markers that he repaired.
He pressed in the pigtails, adding the rubber grommets I was missing.  He also put in new LED bulbs to replace my broken ones at no cost.  There was no way possible I could have pressed these in myself without destroying the housing.  It's good to have working lights again.
This is a tremendous offer from an awesome guy.

Thanks again Mike!

My pleasure Rod, being selffish here, it makes my day offering something that is so simple to me that is a real problem to the average Joe.  Anyone else have pigtails without the rubber? I have plenty, no charge.  I also have a limited quantity of front parking light & side marker pigtails left.  I also have the pigtails for the 70 Cuda front parking lights that have the spade on the housing for the ground.

Really looks great! Does the LED bulbs effect the speed of the turn signal?

Side markers are always on, so the flasher has no effect.
I did have to replace the flasher with electronic version when I replaced the turn signal bulbs.

Hi Mike, I'm new to the community my name is Alex and I have a 1970 Challenger that I'm needling the market lamp sockets pressed in I was wondering if you would be able to press them in for me? I see your mailing address and I would pay shipping there and back. My housing aren't in perfect shape and I'm not ready to totally restore my car yet I would like to have some fun with it before I tear her apart.. if this would be a good time to send them let me know. I have already bought new pigtails. Thank you and have a nice day. https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/hemicuda_27

That's funny you're the first one to post about Mike after all the history on here.  I did have a first hand talk with him and also spent the time to read all the posts he was involved with, seems like the wrong guy was banned.  It's beyond me to think how in the world someone can do what you did and not get tarred and feathered let alone be allowed to post anywhere on any forum ever again.

He did a set of side markers for me and supplied "NEW" pigtails for free, he wouldn't take any money from me.  I watched him install mine, he has a special die and they are pressed in, not something you'll be able to duplicate without the proper equipment.

It's pretty easy to see if you want to look.
Mike's banning wasn't because of good or bad workmanship. It was because of content personal attacks. Which aren't allowed on this site. Or any other I'm aware of.
The post by FE5 was very humorous...because it ignores ALL the rules of why Hemicuda was banned.
Like you, I didn't want hemicuda banned, the guy seriously knows his $h!t. But if you're going to be toxic in other ways...better off without.

I also fail to see the Humor...So calling someone out for being totally wrong isn't ok to warn the members of a forum to beware of someone because of their work ethic and lack of customer service but doing that to customers is fine as long as no ones feeling are hurt ? I really, really wish all of you people that think Mike was in the wrong could hear the 30-45 minute audio conversation the customer made and have seen the many mistakes on the Purple Convertible. You Guys on hear don't know or don't care because it didn't happen to you and your $100K restoration. I see people posting "Buyer Beware" notifications all the time when they get taken or scammed but for some reason it's okay when it's someone who  gives you some stupid emoji's and incorrect opinions when people are asking for actual fact's to fix their issues.
I'm glad the OP was able to get in touch with B/E & A Restoration parts. Hopefully he'll quickly learn the difference between the Good & accurate resources to use with his restoration questions and the Average resources, that just has to take a guess regardless if they know what their talking about of not.

Of course it's ok. That's why the thread is still there. Searchable. Easy to find. As all the other warnings posted on this site.
Personal attacks...not ok.
Seems simple to me.
