It seems the times to load pages are affected big time today.
There is a ton of time being run in javascript and it seems to be coming from the ads.

Yup....I couldn't even get the forum to open earlier... :headbang:

Same issue here too.
I thought it was my computer. Same here, had to sign in twice to get on

I was thinking it was my computer also, or crapping internet speed? Seems like it's fixed now!
Thanks Cody!
It's 100% the site. I have been on the phone with the service provider and they are working on it.... :fingerscrossed:
The hosting company made a few changes and it appears to be much faster...
How is it working for everyone now?
muy bueno
:bradsthumb:
It's fine, it was good this morning too.
There's been a bunch of changes made to the way the site functions and it should be much faster for everyone.
It's working super fast for me now. :veryexcited:  :veryexcited:
How's it working for everyone else today?
It's Hemi-fast right now.
Fastest it's ever been on my desktop and iPad. Thanks for the improvement.

work super fast.. :thankyou: beam me up scotty
I'm not getting "super fast" movement between pages, but I would say it's working normal for me lately.
Things seem to be a good bit faster for me today again. That's a good sign that maybe this will be a long term solution and fix the off and on slow problems we've had on the forum. This is a foreign language to me, but here's what the hosting company said they did to our forum yesterday...
"...moved your PHP handler for version 5.6, the version used by both of your websites, to DSO at this time with Zend OPCache enabled. This has consequentially led to a change of Apache MPM from Mod_Event to Mod_Prefork as Event cannot work with DSO. Prior to moving to DSO your two website's were executing PHP via PHP-FPM."
Hope this is the solution we were looking for. :fingerscrossed:
Ha, ha: That is all GM speak to me.

It's stupid slow for me too. :pullinghair: :headbang: :pullinghair: Back on the phone with hosting... :Thud:
Thanks Cody. super fast again. :thankyou:
The fix we put in place last week had an issue and they fixed it. We'll try to keep an eye on it and if it's super slow again for anyone please let me know and I'll look in to it. :bradsthumb:
Thanks for looking after this Cody :ohyeah:
Working very good for me now.
:iagree: Working just fine
Kinda like owning a Holley... Super fast when it's good but ya gotta keep twisting the dials....
That's for twisting the dials Cody!!!
Ha, ha: Fixed the fix. It was pretty ugly this morning alright.
I think its the WEB in general...not just this site.
I have been having issue with other sites all day!!!

Between 10-15 seconds right now for a page to load....for me anyways...

I'll look in to it when I get home from work. It's super slow for me too.
Yep definitely having issues . . . :looney:
I dunno: It seems fine for me.
Better now! :bigthumb:
Back to normal this morning!!! :woohoo:
It appears the slowdown has returned...
Yup, beyond super slow for me too. I'll get in touch with the hosting company tomorrow and get it fixed again. :pullinghair: Hang in there with me everyone, I will get it back to working fast again.
Yup, we know your on it...
Working faster now, thanks
Yes it has been up and down a bit. Cody will get it "restored".
Slow again, for me anyway, (Oct. 10/18 - 11:30 am). Anyone else.
Yep
This has to be getting old for Cody.... Spending more time chasing gremlins than working at his day job...... Cody please know we really appreciate all that you do.....
It's slow for me too.
FYI it's been kinda slow today for me 30 seconds to change a page etc... Sorry for you Cody must be such a PITA for you having to deal with this so often. Thanks for all you do, just want you to know we appreciate it!
Last night I couldn't get it to load on Chrome. It did on IE but was really slow. Got it on Chrome this morning but it's a bit slow.
Echo Brad's comment, we appreciate what you do for the site
@Cuda Cody (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cuda-cody_1) :worship:
Super slow for me too. Was on tech help last night for about 30 minutes and they did the same thing they did last time to fix it, bit the fix only lasted a few hours before the slowness came back. I've got to go to work right now, but when I get home tonight I will get back on the phone with tech and try to figure out a different solution. I think it's time to move hosting servers.
Dang: Thanks for all the time Cody.
My desktop is just back up from a failed hard drive. This time I opted to install a solid state drive - SSD (Samsung 860 EVO) - for the OS and at the same time purchased a W10 disc along with a replacement conventional 1TB hard drive I will install later for storing photos, etc.
Just got W10 (build 1803) installed a couple of hours ago, and now boot up takes less than 30 seconds.
After putting Norton back on, e-bodies.org was my next stop. On the forum, MS Edge moves quickly while IE depending on what and how much is embedded, can take up to 10 seconds or so for a page to load.
Haven't been on a pc at home since 13 September. Nice to be back - virtually, that is :)
Thanks Cody. :thankyou: Don't know how you find time to do all that you do !!! :worship:
It is Halloween and the site is SLOW!
Yup, slow for me too. I just restarted "Apache" so I think that what was causing it. Should be quicker again now.
Early this morning it was terrible.... workin' great now !
:pullinghair: Anyone know a PHP developer? I can not figure out why the PHP files are not working sometimes and other times they are fine. 2 hours on the phone with hosting company and they can't find the problem. :headbang:
I thought it was just my computer, so I rebooted. Nope...it's slow. Like, 1995 slow. :unbelievable:
I'm sorry for you Cody, must be super frustrating and taking up your valuable time !
Thanks for hanging in there! :console: :slapme5:
I had issues last night. Took a long time to load topics.
Yes: It was ugly this morning.

From the link ,maybe a file extension is misnamed .

And a Chebby.
About 15 seconds to load after a click.
Thank you guys for the heads up. We are going to be moving servers to solve this issue. I've been doing some testing to figure out what it is and we now know exactly what is causing it. It's kinda like this....
There's a lot of different hosting server levels and they are a lot like places we live throughout out lives. The super cheap hosting server plans are like living at home with your parents. There's a ton of rules, we get very little space and we hope to grow to the point that you can move out. Then we get the the servers that are like living in an apartment. Those cost a bit more and we can have a little more room, but still not "our server" since we share a close space and if anyone in our apartment server makes noise everyone hears it and we all suffer.
Then there's the Condo server (VPS) and that's where we are now. There's a higher quality of tenants because we all pay more and have a bigger portion of the server. But when we make a lot of noise we still all pay the price be being slowed down as they limit the noise we can make. For 2 months I turned off the google ability to index us and that sped everything up since we stopped making so much "noise". But we stopped showing up on google searches and the income from the ads plummeted. So our only option is to go to our very own server (which is like owning our own house). We can make noise and we will not be slowed down by having to share space.
So this is what I'm working on. We will be moving the site to our very own server. I'm still working the details out, but I hope to have the move done in the next week. The site will go down during the middle of the night while we move it, but when it comes back up it will be super fast and we will not have to limit google from searching us. There's a ton of upside to having our own server and I look forward to sharing good news about the move very soon.
Thank you all for understanding and hanging with me while I figured this out. I promise I will make it better for everyone really soon. Don't give up on me yet. :grouphug:

I couldn't agree more. I get a little down and out not being able to do as much as I want on mine, but coming back here to lurk and see what other folks are doing has been keeping me plugging along little pieces at a time. looked at the resources page for the first time in a year and can't believe how much it's grown, there is a WEALTH of invaluable knowledge on this site that has far surpassed any of it's predecessors and it will be a legendary resource for DECADES to come. that's a helluva legacy to the hobby and community
A slow day on this site is better than any day on another mopar related site!!!!! :alan2cents:

Yeah slow here as well.
But so is everything else out there right now too. :bricks:
We added another layer of defense to see if we can stop these stupid spammer bots. :pullinghair: Hopefully this will keep them from slowing us down.
Spam was created in 1937 by a company called Hormel...
They created their first batch to help with the war efforts.
Due to all the hoarding and panic buying the last few weeks due to Covid-19,
Hormel will be starting the second batch of Spam early next week, to replenish store shelves...

:pokeeye: :pokeeye:
:thinking:What war effort, WW2 was 1942-46! But that was still a good analogy. :haha:
Why - it was the Second Sino-Japanese war between Republic of China and the Empire of Japan...

Is it just me or same for others?
Bairly got this post out.
Yup: She's down a couple of cylinders.
Yup. It sucks. The hosting company is only doing tech help through online "chat" and they are pretty much useless now. :headbang: All PHP processes processing the PHP code of the forum are using all of the CPU and the processes are stacking so there's just a long list of them. That's killing our speed. Caching with CloudFlare should greatly improve our site performance, but I need to find someone who knows how to install it.
Thanks Cody.
Not glad it is everyone. But am glad it is not just me... :dunno:
Definitely got a miss

Right now I am averaging over 5 mins to make each post :Thud:
Yikes! Mine is pretty much normal.
:iagree: Mine is working fine, But I have seen it like Neil has it at times.
I see a slowdown at times also, not all the time, but sometimes its super slow. Been like this for a week or so.
All my other sites are fast.
Yup, slow for me too. I just need to find time to install CloudFlare. I'm told that will help keep the spammers down. Because our site is search engine friendly, it attracts a lot of spammers. They flood our servers and slow it down to a crawl. :pullinghair:
Just came back on after being off a couple weeks and it's the worse slow down I've ever experienced.
Is this just an anomaly today or the new norm???
Ha, go figure, no sooner that I posted my comment and it just sped back up to normal
It was punishing you for off a couple weeks. :pokeeye:
Site is superslow again, same thing happened yesterday when I tried to post, waited for minutes for a post to update, then just a blank screen. Left the site, when I came back a few hrs later it was OK and my post was there. But now it's crawling again.
Same again, 1 hr ago I could not post at all. Now it works again.
I notice it too and find that it seems to be more and more frequent.
I just abort and try back later. Being retired it's no big deal but I can see it being a problem if you have time limitations like lunchtime at work, etc.
Mine is super slow also been like that for awhile and my machine is relatively new and was always fast until recently. Sometimes it freezes up and I have to get out and go back in. It's been iffy for me very since the pop ups began. I would still be willing to contribute to the site to get those to go away. Love the site and Cody does an awesome job. Just trying to think out of the box.

Weird stuff happening...? Desktop now is ok. When I tried to post on my smartphone it came up with an error message , options were to discard, save and one other one I forget, so I selected discard so I thought it didn't post. Tried after a bit on the desktop and poof there it is?
No idea where the problem lies....

yes every other site was no problem?
Yeah, could be anything but it sounds like a glitch with your provider and you happened to catch it just at the right time.
Weird that every other site was okay, so forget what I said above.
I've been having issues on and off all day, one time it loads no problem, next time it won't load at all :dunno:
Yup, same here and sometimes it won't load - just a blank page. Also, what's with all the ads?
It has been randomly slow for me today, but not horrible. And I see NO adds since installing uBlock Origin, yay!!
I use a laptop mostly, a newer Macbook Pro, right now the site is very slow, but no blank pages at least, then I tried my phone (iPhone), I use TapaTalk on that, and no issues in speed there. Not sure how that works, technically, but on TapaTalk I can access a lot of forums with TapaTalks interface. So if it is the server slowing down, why does TapaTalk run way faster?
iPhone user here, normal website access via Safari, extremely slow.
Okay. Found the issue. Over the last week the forum has been targeted by spammers out of Germany. On average a couple times a day they were attacking the forum about 8,000 to 9,000 times in 24 hours. We have made some changes to the firewall that should stop them.
Thanks you everyone for letting me know the site was super slow and hopefully the new changes will help keep those spammers out.
What I do is, if the page doesn't load immediately I just abort and try back later, simple. This has now become my new normal, I've adapted to it. That might not work for some but I'm okay with it.
Personally, I don't see myself paying to go onto a forum, no matter how good it is. There's too many free options out there.
