Nice car, I wish I could cut a cheque for that without caring if I paid too much or not.

Why does everybody insist on adding hockey stick stripes to these cars

Right.  Why would anyone add hockey stick stripes to a car did not come from the factory that way? :D

The funny thing is, I've had my car since 1975, and bought it with the stripe on it. All these years, I thought it came off the line that way, until a few weeks ago when I noticed the broadcast sheet doesn't have the code for it. Perhaps dealer installed?

There's a really good chance of that, because I'm sure most Cudas advertised had the stripe so when buyers that sat down to order their cars, and possibly even the salesperson, were unaware that it was an option that needed to be ordered at extra cost.
Imagine ordering a car and it's didn't have one of the coolest options on it when it came in :o ......I'm sure a lot of stripes were dealer installed. :alan2cents:

My Hemi Cuda didn't have a radio code. Something I didn't notice until I was selling it and a fellow pointed it out. The 70 stripes are something a lot of us take for granted as well.

@Cudino (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cudino_194) has the Pink Hemicuda stripe delete and now these.

So I'm thinking stripe delete in 70' was pretty rare?

Could be.

A lot of cudas were coded for body side molding but that rarely ever gets installed back on

Other people want their car to have less advertising so they opted for no stripe

@Cudino (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cudino_194) has the Pink Hemicuda stripe delete and now these.

Since the 1970 V6X "hockey stick" stripe was only available in Black it may not have been ordered based on the color combo of the rest of the car.  In the case of my pink Hemicuda, the original owners felt the black stripe would conflict with the white vinyl top and interior, so they chose not to order it.

the stripe.

My recollection is that, back in the day, there weren't very many cars WITH the stripe. At least, not in my neck of the woods.

1970:
'cuda's OPTIONAL "sport stripes" V6X (BLACK ONLY) $25.90 & installation rate was ~24% (~1 in 4)
'cuda's OPTIONAL "protective body side moulding w/pinstripes" V5_ (available in red, white, blue, green, black) $29.45 & installation rate was ~20% (~1 in 5)
'cuda's OPTIONAL "TRANS AM" package A53 included V6H "AAR strobe stripes" (BLACK ONLY) & installation rate was ~16% (~1 in 6)
'cuda's OPTIONAL mid-year "strobe stripes" V4_ (available in magenta, chartreuse, white, black) $25.90 & installation rate was very low

that leaves ~40% 1970 'cudas (BS) with no stripes (~2 in 5)

Interesting: In my area just about all of them had the stripe. I am sure it was the dealer ordering them unsold that contributed to that. Almost no local Cudas had the side molding but a lot of the local Barracudas did.
