Hi everyone.
I've been on here for a few hours searching around with very little reassurance on what to do..
I have a Plymouth Cuda, not sure if that matters much for this..
B body 8 3/4 rear w/Dr Diff 1" relocate.
Rear:
I'm looking to do a 17x10
Looks like maybe a 4.5 or 5" bs might work?
I love that deep dish look out back..
I'm not sure what companies hav 17x10's with the right backspacing..
Rear Tire...
275-50-17
295-45-17 possibly?
The quarter panel wheel lips were trimmed before paint..
Fronts:
I'm not even sure what I can run.. 17x8?
I'd like to get the most tire and wheel under it as I can without rubbing when turning...
Can you post some pictures with your specs to see if someones running a setup with the look I've got in mind..
I'm a visualist.....
I asked a few questions on posts where the setup
looked killer and messaged the user with no replies..
Thanks
the 15" tires will have more sidewall bulge than 17 "
Personally I dislike the 275 /60 tire , it is too tall
the 295 will fit just fine with the spring relocate & I would use the 295/ 50
the 305 in a 17 " should just fit as well but the rim backset needs to be perfect
I am using 275 /50 /15 Nitto drag radial on an 8 " rim with the springs in the stock location
On my Challenger with the b-body rear end and offset shackles I'm using 18x11 on all 4 corners, rear tires are 295/40/18 out back rear rim offset is 5.5" front is irrelevant, as I made wide body fenders to suit the tires size but they are 315/30/18 with 5" offset .
275/40/17 with 5" BS fit a standard E body 8-3/4 in my Challenger with space to spare. Need more than 5" BS if going wider. 50 series wide tire will be tall and should check your gearing. Better to use 10" wide wheel if going 295 and above.
15x10 and 17x10 with 5" backspace will work fine for the rear. 295-315 width in 60 or lower series ratio should fit without issue.
Front will depend on if you use 15 or 17. The larger diameter of the 17 rim will allow a different backspacing and subsequently, wider tire potential. In 15" diameters, 4.75" backspace is the maximum you can fit before you have ball joint interference. But this is a custom backspace and the best you may be able to find is 4.5". Of course you could get a 5" backspace rim and use a .25" space. With a 15x8, you could get a 255 width in there and maybe only have to roll the fender lip. With a 17x8 or 9, you may be able to get up to a 275 with a 5, 5.5, or 6" backspace.
I am running nitto 255/45/17 front 17x9 4.5 bs, and 275/50/17 on a 17x10 5"bs wheel.. It's tight but it works and the sidewall height looks decent... I am trying to figure out how people squeeze 295's in this wheel well, I don't believe I have the room.
You will probably end up going with 17" tires. There are no good street tires (unless you think BFG is a good tire) available in 15".
I have 255 17's up front on a 17x9 rim with 5" bs and 315 17's in the back with 6 5/8" backspace but had to add a 5mm spacer to centre the wheel. But my back spacing won't work for you because I have an ebody rear. I have a Dr. Diff 1.5" offset shackle kit.
Backspacing on the rear will depend on where your axle flange is in relation to where your springs are mounted. So you will need to measure from the axle mounting flange to your springs. Then subtract 3/8 of an inch. This will give you a backspace to aim for. The exact BS may not be available so thats where you juggle what you want with what is available and/or using spacers.
You need to keep the backspacing for the front in-between 4.5" and 5". Closer to 5" works best IMO.
This is how it looks.
Chris, are you going to be at Mopars in the Park June 1st?
I may have to get some offset spring hangers and try to squeeze some 315's in that Cuda's wheel well.. I can see 295's with the offset hanger and correct backspace no problem. As it stands right now I am tight on both sides with 275/50/17.. It will work / be safe, but if I tried to go bigger my tires would be too close to the springs in their stock location.
Interestingly I had these same tires on the challenger and there wasn't enough room. Less than 1/8" clearance from springs to tires... I was pleasantly surprised by the fit when I put them on the Cuda.
315 would be INCREDIBLE :) Your car looks great.
What brand wheels are you using?

I have tire specs listed in this thread: https://forum.e-bodies.org/wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-and-steering/12/goodysgotacuda-wheel-and-tire-specs/10283/
295 rears with stock wheel wells and axle. I'm a big fan of tall tires, these are 27" front and 28.5" rear. The mentioned 305/30/18s are 25.2" tall, which would change the look substantially. It just depends on what you're looking for.

I'm running Hankook Ventus V12 245/45/18 and 275/40/18 with US Mag U111 Rambler textured gunmetal grey 18x8 and 18x9.5. The stock spring location gives abut 3/4" room, fits inside the rear quarters with no rolled lips. Fronts also fit perfect, no rolled lips, not rubbing on frame.

Any pictures of the rear setup?

Here is a link to my wheels.

I have the exact same set up as.....303 Mopar. He posted the specs. Here are a couple of pictures...
There's a thread over on Moparts where a guy was running 315's front and back on 18x10.5" wheels. They fit but were close and he wouldn't share his specific wheel offset because these cars do vary. His car is shown here and has been on some videos I've seen. http://www.rylispro.com/
But, it can be done and 305's should be easy.
I went with 275/50ZR17 in the rear.
Unfortunately, it does rub a little bit.
My rear quarters were replaced by the previous owner and have pretty large lip on the inside. Is this normal?
Should I cut that off, roll it, or both?
I wouldn't hesitate to cut off the excess that is outside the trim if that gets you what you need.
I've never seen one fully rolled with the trim on. You might be able to bend it a little but I would be surprised if the trim cooperates. If you aren't married to the trim piece, pull it and roll it.
The trim complicates it a bit. You can cut the lip as long as it's not going through any spot welds.
Looks like the wheel offset is more of the problem. I run a 295 on a not trimmed stock wheel well, car is lowered as well.

So with the B body rear..
The consensus is a 15x10 with a 5 inch backspacing,
I'd like to bump it to a 17, but the style of wheel I like doesn't come in a 10 wide with a 5 inch backspacing.
What would a 17x9.5 with a 5.56 inch backspacing be like?

Google "Wheel Offset Calculator". several out there that you can play with the numbers in and visualize the results. Some give very detailed results and others are more basic
For the scenario you describe given equal width an height tires, the inside edge of the tire will be .83" closer to the frame and the outer sidewall .83" farther from the wheel well lip.

295-50-15 cooper on an s.s. Cragar wheel. Did an add-a-leaf on my springs which are in stock location. Gives it a rake which some people like and some don't. It's all a matter of personal opinion I guess
Man...............
I'm still having a hell of a time picking out wheels and tires.
If anyone else sees this, post up pictures and
specs please, this is driving me nuts LOL
Well, what type of look do you want, stock, retro, more modern, road race inspired, drag inspired? Try to narrow down the genre then you can bounce around in the specific styles.

How much room do you have on the inside between the tire & spring , it seems the rim is the wrong backset , 275 should be an easy fit
I think I found a wheel I like.
17x9.5 with 6 offset.... I found a conversion to backspacing and it says 5.5"
With the B body rear, will this work without rubbing?
For the front, 17x8 0 offset.. translates to a 4.5bs
Is this a safe combo?
:wrenching:
When I was looking for wheels, I scoured the C-C wheel thread and made a spreadsheet of what everyone was using to get an idea of what would work. Maybe this will help?

:alan2cents: if you're running aftermarket disc brakes, don't forget to account for their increase to the axle width.
I'm not running rear disk brakes yet, but I figure they would require an additional 1/4 inch more push outwards.

:alan2cents: The DrDiff front and rear kits increase the track width by 3/16" per side. Not sure about the other mfgs.
Oh, I was pretty close with my guess

Up front,
17x8 with 4.5bs will fit fine.
17x9 will fit nicely with 4-7/8 to 5 inch bs. I have 17x9 with 255's up front with 5" bs and it doesn't rub the lip mouldings. I believe you can stick 275's in there as well. That's what I think 72blunblu has mounted.
That's is what I captured for 72blunblu's setup, 275s on 17x9s w/ 5" BS on all four corners
17x9 5" 275 40 17 25.7 4.3 10.8 72bluNblu
