Title: Tach not working
Post by: SeventyTX9RTRag on November 11, 2018, 06:52:23 PM
If you remove the points from a dual point distributor and install pertronix how does that effect the tach? I have heard that when upgrading the distributor with pertronix you are at risk of the tach not working. Specifically on a 70. Is this true or is there a certain way to hook up the tach to the pertronix?

Thanks

I've run pertronix and the tach worked, but wasn't very accurate.   Did you install pertronix and the tach does not work now?

Actually, looking at buying an E body. Have looked at three. First one, black convertible, which I thought for sure would buy had a good working tach and points. Two others had pertronix and neither worked at all. Just wondering how to fix this?
My 69 Charger has points and tach works fine.

You should convert the tach to more modern electronic using the kit from Real Time Eng / RTE , you can install it yourself & the tach will work much better
