Hopefully you are enjoying the warmer weather and the later daylight hours! Before you know it, we will be in car show season yet again. Here at Carlisle Events, we are getting ready for what will certainly be another great event and we have some exciting stuff for you to share with your club. We also have some new clubs to welcome since the last club leader update in February. Let's get to it!
Cristy Lee Comes to Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in 2020
We are extremely pleased to announce that Cristy Lee, host of All Girls Garage, Garage Squad, Barrett-Jackson Auctions, Dodge spokesperson and more, will be joining us at the show this year! Cristy has been working for Dodge for several years hosting various events, appearing in commercials and more. We have been trying to put this together for at least 3 years but her busy schedule kept getting in the way. She really wanted to attend this show so she held the date on her calendar and we were finally able to pull it off. Find out more in the following link: https://www.carlisleevents.com/events/events-detail/index?id=chrysler+nationals&urlname=meet-automotive-tv-personality-cristy-lee
Butch Leal Comes to Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in 2020
We always try to give you the most bang for your buck and this year is no different. We have officially added Mopar Hall of Famer and Pro Stock Pioneer Butch Leal to the guest list! Butch was here a few years ago but he didn't get to spend much time at the event. This year will be different as Butch will be one of our main guests and he'll be appearing with at least one of his original Pro Stock cars, specifically his '75 Duster! Find out more in the following link: https://www.carlisleevents.com/events/events-detail/index?id=chrysler+nationals&urlname=meet-butch-leal-the-california-flash

2020 Club Tent Forms Due April 6th!
If your club is unsure if you hit 25 Cars in 2019, please feel free to reach out to me and we can look at your registrations. Please don't wait, get your form in before the April 6th deadline! For those that have done so already, we thank you!
Dodge Display and Thrill Rides Return!
We met with folks from Dodge back at the end of February and they were eager to confirm their return this year! That's always great news. No other manufacturer comes to Carlisle and gives free rides in their 700+ horsepower cars. We are also working on some other new ideas with Dodge for this year. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
Mopar Show in Lakeland, Florida!
About a month ago we were in Florida for our Lakeland Winter Autofest event and new this year was the addition of a Mopar display within the show. For a first time event, it was pretty awesome! Herb McCandless and his son, Mike, brought out 3 cars from their collection: the only 1970 Sox & Martin Hemicuda ever built with a real Hemicuda (R code) VIN, Herb's real LO23 '68 Hemi Dart as well as his '72 Demon. They have even bigger plans for their display at Carlisle! Collector Todd Werner also brought 3 cars from his collection. Todd showed up with THE Richard Petty Superbird, Dick Landy's '68 Hemi Dart (another real LO23 car) and his Sox & Martin '68 Hemi Barracuda (real BO29 car).
The 1970 Anniversary Display was meant to represent all of the shows in Carlisle with one car per show. But, we had the room and the Mopar faithful submitted more cars than the other shows so we put 3 Mopars in that display. All of this was supported by about 100 show cars in the Mopar field. Not bad for a first year effort. We have big plans to grow this portion of the show, and the entire show, for next year. If you're going to be in or near Lakeland, FL February 19-21, 2021, you should check it out! You can read more about the event at https://carlisleevents.com/events/events-detail/index?id=winter+autofest+lakeland
We want to connect with your Club's Facebook Pages and Events!
There is no denying Facebook has become a medium that many of you and your members use to communicate on daily basis. We want to connect our page with your club and your club's Event Page for the Chrysler Nationals. Our social media team is looking to connect so your club has the latest info and can answer questions quickly for you. If you have a club Facebook Page or Group, please share it with Clubs@CarlisleEvents.com so we can include you in this program. This includes your Carlisle Chrysler Nationals Facebook events that many of you have already setup!
COVID-19
There's really no way we can communicate with you without at least mentioning the Coronavirus. As this is being written, we have not made any changes to our 2020 schedule. However, that could change based on recent events. If we make any changes to our schedule (for any of our shows), we will announce it far and wide including but not limited to social media and our website. So, before you send an email or message us on Facebook, check our website. Hopefully, everything is back to normal by July but we are taking this seriously. We already have a plan in place to protect our guests as well as our staff. You can read our official announcement here: https://carlisleevents.com/docs/default-source/resources-documents/carlisle-events-statement---covid-19-outbreak.pdf
In closing and as always, if you have any questions comments or concerns, my door is always open. Feel free to reach out via email or phone as well as stop in if you are in the area. We are here to make sure your club has the best time possible at our event!
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in July!!
:fingerscrossed: that this will be over by then ....... I'm not so sure though
Wouldn't it just figure...50th anniversary. I have reservations, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
If they cancel the show. We can have our own in the club parking lot at the Hotel. I'm in. :D
I doubt it will go ahead :'(
If activities are still cancelled by the time Carlisle comes around people will be shooting themselves from boredom and anything else that moves as well.

Ok lets not get ahead of ourselves now. Think positive. It's still a few months away.

It took China about 4 months to get out from under it. We've learned alot from what China had to go through. I figure we will be ok in less than 4 months, about mid June, and Carlisle will be ok. But people will be hesitant so numbers may be down. Just my :alan2cents:
I'm hoping there will be a spring Carlisle! It would really suck if the Mopar show is cancelled. If it is they should move it to September or October.

I don't think we're going anywhere soon.... :whiteflag:
The Charlotte Auto Fair which is almost as large as Spring Carlisle has been rescheduled from April 2nd-5th to June 12-14th. Nobody really knows at this point what kind of time frame that we may be looking at to see some sign of a slow down of the virus.
As much as I hope to be optimistic about the show going on, I have a gut feeling that we will still be under tight rules for public events. Even if things were to semi come under control and the show would be pushed back to a later Summer or early Fall date, the show will be much smaller in my opinion.
There's not enough weekends in the year....We're not talking about one show at a venue.....think of how many shows Carlisle Events puts on at the fairgrounds in one Summer...something like 7-8 shows....Then think... if all the shows starting with Spring Carlisle until.... lets say ...June first...If those shows have to be postponed ? When would they make it all work ? Summer is only so long... :alan2cents:
Today we have 705 Covid-19 cases out of 37.5 million people in Canada.....They predict up to 70% of the population will get this virus ( 28 million people).....so we still have a long way to go, it's going to be a long time before things are back to "normal" :alan2cents:
My thoughts were..... I have about 3-4 months of income saved up in cash . Kinda the way I roll, I hear most people don't . If I'm not able to work because of lockdown or sickness ( we are a family of 5, chances are pretty good at least one of us will get sick?), then after not working for 3-4 months , that kinda eats up the money I have saved up for a rainy day never mind extra's like entertainment. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this reality. :alan2cents:
I'm not freaking out about this new reality, just trying to be realistic.....
3 months with no one working or income. The world as we know it will be over. ALL BUSINESS will fail. I hope people can see this is not in our best interest. It won't matter be then how many died from this flu. I predict common sense will kick prevail in a couple of weeks and we can get back to a close to normal. People are dieing every day from car wrecks. You don't see them banning cars. People are getting over this flu that catch it. It is not %100 fatal. The media is not helping this panic.
It is a hard call but I do not think this will spread like they say it will. The media is enticing most of this fear. Their predictions of 70% will be infected is nothing but a prediction. There are many predictions like asteroid hitting the earth--Super Volcanoes erupting--they are nothing but predictions until they come true. Here in the US they closed schools-many business are closed--restaurants are only allowed to have pick up orders with no dining in. It will hit small business pretty hard and the people that live pay check to paycheck will suffer the most. My wife is the office manager in a dental office and they were going to stay open but the ADA (American Dental Association) basically told them to close. I understand the idea to isolate the people to stop the spread but it is going to hurt a lot of people. I am still working but going on vacation tomorrow for a week which I put in for in January. Not going anywhere but have a bunch of parts ordered and plan on working on my 67 Satellites interior if all my interior paint comes in.. I think there is a lot more going on here than just this virus..but that is another story.

If it does not spread to 70% of the population, it will be because of the actions we are taking now.
I am lucky that I can work from home (it sucks but I can do it), so it business as usual for me.
I can see this having far and wide economic affects. I admit I am concerned that the financial impact will affect my promotion.
But the effects of this virus running quickly through the population is equally or maybe more devastating. If this over runs our health care system and people die needlessly, that is a far worse fate the having to socially distance ourselves or isolate ourselves for a few weeks.
Maybe if I wasn't able to work, I would see it differently, I certainly do not have the financial means to go a long period of time with no income, but I think I would still understand the need to do what we are doing.
At this point its fingers crossed things will get back to normal a quickly as possible.

Lots of open weekends in September. Wonder how attendance would be with the larger shows like Chrysler then.
Probably would be better attendance, especially if its in September and its not 100 degrees out.
I read on another forum that the rapid transit system is going to be at this years carlisle!
The guy that is heading up the display is asking for anyone who has a car that is based on the Rapid Transit system to contact him so they can possibly be in the display!
The rapid transit system was my first love of mopars really. I was just enthralled by the custom upgrades!
Any updates from people living in Pennsylvania about current restrictions being lifted ? We're only 71 days away right now. Is your area starting to reopen parks and stuff yet ? Their first show is supposed to be in 5 weeks ...the Ford Nationals :dunno:
We still have no end in sight around here....Our Government isn't willing to commit to area dates yet :pullinghair:

The Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is NOT cancelled!! I was alerted tonight that there is another rumor going around and I want to clear things up. Here are some FACTS:
Nobody knows what is going to happen with this virus. As an event promoter, we are expected to predict the future. We can't! But we at least have to have a solid plan and be ready to change. We have already changed some shows. If you look at those changes, you'll see that we are changing them in the order in which they occur. Spring Carlisle got moved and so did our Import show. Those were the first 2 shows on our original schedule. Ford is next, scheduled for June 5-7, then it's our rescheduled Spring, then Chevy and THEN Chrysler. If Ford, Spring and Chevy aren't canceled (which they are NOT), why would we jump to Chrysler and cancel it, or even move it, at this point if we haven't moved the 3 shows before it??
Can the above change? Sure! And IF it does, here is the process and timeline: If we feel that we won't be able to have a show safely or the governor isn't allowing events on the date of an event and we have no choice but to reschedule, we look for alternate available dates. Once we find the best available date and we're SURE we need to reschedule, we get the team together to plan our official announcement. We pick the date and EXACT time that the announcement will be made via Facebook, our website and emails to that show's database. So far when we've done this, it all occurs in about 1-2 days.
For the best and most current information, just go to our website (www.CarlisleEvents.com) or the show's Facebook page. Whatever you see there is current! If you hear a rumor that one of our shows is canceled or rescheduled, don't call or message us (or me), just check either of the above sources.
I hope this helps and I'm planning to see everyone July 10-12 😁
Ben
Ed seems optimistic, and the States are already lifting restrictions, so hopefully the show will go on :fingerscrossed:
By the tone of that message....he's probably getting buried in emails and messages of people unsure what the heck is going on... :bricks:
I see his logic. He'll leave what he can and not touch it. If he has to cancel some of the early ones, then he'll leapfrog them and put them on the back end and not upset the ones in front. That is the best way to do it.
Question for us up here is what will happen with the border ...? When/if will it open? What restrictions?
I imagine it will be a pretty empty show if it is held on original dates. It will take time for people to feel confident to gather in large numbers again. Some of course won't care, but most people will need time.

Our borders are closed until at least June right now ? I don't see that changing any time soon....Saying today on the news that they want to close borders to Manitoba and Quebec now as well :dunno:

That marshmellow we have running the show in Ottawa should have made that stipulation the same day Quebec put police checkpoints in place for traffic entering Quebec from Ontario to the west and from the eastern provinces.
Open season on Ontario
Today the governor announced certain counties are going from "stay at home" to eased restrictions..Unfortunately none of the counties are in this area..The "eased restrictions" state no more than 25 people gatherings...I'm not sure how all this will play out..Even if a few weeks from now they classify our area for the eased restrictions it still won't allow for the shows to happen..

What, about the guy who's wife has and gives Covid to a few people and
not him? That's why he stayed home for 2 and then 2 more weeks rather than admit he had it too. That's why your local barber is going out of business because he can't go out, yet Justin and his family can go to his cottage, in a different province; you know, the one who stationed police at their border to keep you and I out of Quebec, but not Trudeau? I'm hoping you were just pulling his leg here.

Bummer. Had hoped to finally meet you.
Kevin
So may great folks I was hoping to meet this year.
this will be my second year.
Gonna miss you guys. Maybe next year huh?
I think the show will go on as scheduled. Attendance will be down to maybe half of what we are used to, but maybe not. It will be sad to see, but on the positive end, we have a big tent, so the 6 or so of us that actually show up will have plenty of room for social distancing.
In case you missed it, that was sarcasm. I'm sure there will be more than 6 of us, but we will be responsible adults in this matter. Practice social distancing, and be safe people. There are so many awesome people on this forum, I would hate to hear of any of you getting the virus.
:iagree:
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out... There's quite a few other shows in the area that have cancelled for mid july here already{remember no gatherings over 25 people}..Some wanted to open their business ahead of the governor's mandate..He told them they risk losing their business license and any business insurance wouldn't cover any issues before it's time to actually open their area ...It might get ugly here until it's over..
Well the way I see it, this is an opportunity for Chrysler is a Carlisle to step up and get the ball rolling. Let's safely have some swap meets and car shows and slowly get closer to what was previously normal. :alan2cents:
AT this point I doubt I will be allowed into the US as I have no US status , even If I can enter I would likely be in quarantine for 2 weeks , How do I afford that ? So far there are zero flights allowed into Panama until the first week of July now & that is not a firm date either so I might not be able to return Home .
SO Unless they change the date to Sept I doubt it will be possible for me to even attend .
If the "Spring Carlisle" event is able to go on, it will be a good indicator of how things may proceed. As a vendor for the Chrysler show, even though it is scheduled three weeks after the Spring meet, things will be constantly changing. I can only hope that they make a decision in a timely manner.
For the people attending the Spring meet, I personally believe that a decision needs to be posted by May 29th. Likewise, I hope that a decision to reschedule the Mopar event will be made and posted by June 15th.
We are very much on the fence on how we will deal with the show. Unless something changes drastically, we will be at the show in July. Most probably, we will be operating with less inventory as I am anticipating attendance being down 30 to 40%. Unless, things open up drastically, I feel that attendance will be made up mostly of those who are within a two to three hour drive one way.
Has anyone checked into their lodging accommodations? Are they going to be only able to operate at 25 to 50% vacancy? The same with restaurants, what will they be able to do to handle the people.
Not to be all gloom and doom, but the methods on how things will proceed should be important to all of us. We can all take the efforts to operate safely. I am sure that Carlisle Events are working to make things work. Other than the health concerns, for us to attend the event, it is approximately an $8400 expense before I pull out of the drive heading to the event. This is just pure out expenses, no inventory cost. At what point is it financially necessary to change your business plan for the weekend. This is the question that almost all of the vendors are asking at this time.
Cumberland County, PA ranks 18th in the state in number of cases. That's out of nearly 70 counties. PA manages restrictions on a county level with three phases: Red, Yellow and Green. 37 counties currently in yellow phase. Cumberland County moves to Yellow Phase restrictions tomorrow which includes:
Stay at Home Order Lifted for Aggressive Mitigation
Large Gatherings of More Than 25 Prohibited
In-Person Retail Allowable, Curbside and Delivery Preferable
Indoor Recreation, Health and Wellness Facilities and Personal Care Services (such as gyms, spas, hair salons, nail salons and other entities that provide massage therapy), and all Entertainment (such as casinos, theaters) Remain Closed
Restaurants and Bars Limited to Carry-Out and Delivery Only
Last level is Green Phase and no counties moved to green as of yet. Green phase just says:
Aggressive Mitigation Lifted
All Individuals Must Follow CDC and PA Department of Health Guidelines
So unless Cumberland County moves to green before July 1st, doubt the show will go on. The fact that no counties are at green yet is an issue.
Sounds identical to Illinois
The above break-down pretty much sums it up...Moving into the yellow phase IS the 25 person gathering...Trust me I'm with everyone and would like to see this event happen...I've made quite a few upgrades on the cuda and I've been ready for the show...
It just doesn't appear to be moving fast enough in the time frame we have left...The US has extended the border restrictions for yet another month !! So no one will get in until at least the end of june..That's cutting it close considering it might not open even then...
I understand the situation but I can't help but feel we're all being held hostage to the crisis...Let's face it most of our hobby's crowd are older, and wiser and we should at least have the chance to do the right thing if this event is allowed to happen...It's not like we're a bunch of kids at the beach or the bar with no concerns for everyone's well being..
:iagree: indeed...but the whole thing just gets so damn depressing. Now the mob media is gearing up to hype a "second wave". I'm truly in the mindset that the whole thing is an opportunity.

I'm thinking/hunch that this will get rescheduled to Sept ? :lurking:
I hope not. That's a tough month for me as I am booked with my archery hunting schedule.
Figures.
Well at least that would make it so yal Canadians can come to it. Probably better for attendance.
OK I'll give the latest updates to keep everyone informed.. As of May 29th Pa will move 17 counties into the "green"..This means indoor and outdoor venues can resume following CDC guidelines..By June 5th all counties will be in the "yellow"...Considering Cumberland county{Carlisle} is already in the yellow it would be safe to say the "green" phase should be within a few weeks...So the short version is it appears with the latest pace of the counties reopening the show should be a go...Now we'll need to see about the border restrictions for the northern crowd...
Quote from: screamindriver on May 22, 2020, 03:18:04 PM

I think that is mainly been restricted by our government and at the moment it is set to reopen by late June. Like the 23rd or there abouts.
Just read in Hemmings the swap meet is canceled in Hershey and that's after Carlisle. That can't be good!
Three weeks yet until Spring Carlisle...June 17th....I know the border will still be closed :dunno:
According to the May 27th PA statement, any social activity with a group of 250 or more is still prohibited, even if the county or operating location is within a "Green" area. With that said, I know that planning has to be fluid and things will change as we move towards July.

I can only hope that Carlisle Events makes a determination at least a month out and not wait until a week prior to change things up. I know that they have to operate under the state direction, but to wait until the last minute is not good for spectators, people bringing show cars or the vendors.
The "Spring Meet is less than 18 days away and it is still scheduled to go as plan. The Mopar event is right at 40 days away, so it is a wait and see situation.
So we're only two weeks away from vendor set-up for "Spring Carlisle".....has there be any word yet about another postponement ?
What's the current status as far as allowed "crowd size gatherings" in that area now ?
Was talking with Ed B. over the weekend as I secured our tent . . . here is part of what he said.
"I don't know if we're going to be down, flat or up this year. I guess that's the million dollar question and I honestly have no idea which one it's going to be. I do know that A LOT of people are just itching to get out and with so many shows already canceled, Carlisle could be huge this year. But, who knows???"
It will be down , i cannot even get out of Panama & probably could not return if I left . Quarantines may still be nessisary . Not sure if the Canadian border will be open either at this point . With the unrest how many are going to believe it si even safe , I don't see the upside ...
I know I will not be there .

Right now the CDN border is locked down until June 21st. ....but that could change :dunno:

Ed has to remain optimistic, I can't imagine the stress him and his team are under...
Most large events around here in the Greater Toronto Area have just thrown in the towel...not even going to bother postponing ...events scheduled for August/September have already been cancelled for 2020.
Events like Moparfest...not even going to think about it....cancelled, and that is in mid-August. :dunno:
If the show does go ahead I just can't see the numbers being up. A lot of people aren't going to put themselves at risk by attending large gatherings. I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance is half of normal.

I tend to agree. I think even a lot of people who would have had their cars in the displays will back out. I am sure they can find replacements but I wanted to see the best examples, not the "anything we can get". Vendors wil not show up, etc...
It's too bad. This was going to be an EPIC year. 1970 had so many cool cars.
I also think that the border measures here in Canada will be extended. No inside knowledge, just a gut feeling.
I just spoke with a couple guys who are going and have secured spots in the show. They called one of the event coordinators and apparently its stil a go.
Their web site says everything is still ago....I just wonder how close they'll wait before postponing it again (Spring Swap)
I heard from a larger vendor that has been doing Spring and Fall Carlisle for over 30 years and they have decided to stay at home this year. The problem that we all have is, that whether your bringing down just a couple of parts or huge assortment, you have to plan accordingly. That is the reason that I know of two larger vendors who have decided to not attend the Mopar show.
I know that the event has been scheduled for a specific date and that everyone knows that date. But I really hope that a decision is made in the very near future to possible reschedule at a later date. Whether your coming as a spectator, bringing a car to show or sell, or bringing parts, we all have to put things into place to pull things off.
We actually start planning in late February for the Carlisle event. This means ordering and building inventory for ourselves and wholesale accounts. By this time in the year, most of our inventory has been checked and our orders have been submitted. We cannot wait until the week prior to put things in place.
I feel sorry for anyone who is scheduled to be attending the Spring show. Are you going to ask them to load out and then at the last minute change things up?? I know that the preparation for Carlisle Events staff is huge for the various events, but some consideration needs to be taken into consideration for their customers.
I have actually heard from two customers who have been contacted from their lodging accommodations, that there reservations have been cancelled. So they are not coming. Another one always flies in, but has decided to stay at home. Personally, I feel that the event if it does go on, attendance will be down by 30% or more. I believe that the majority of those who will be attending, will be those who can drive in and then go back home. They will make it a one day event.
If you read the Carlisle Events Covid fact sheet, I can see confined areas like Building T and Y not happening, seminars cancelled, etc. Are they going to ask the vendors to leave at least 6 feet between our aisles in our swap spaces. We need to know these things prior to putting our final plans in place. We will be there in July or whenever the rescheduled date may be. But I really hope that we are not dragging this out until say July 1st and they say that it has been rescheduled. That will only hurt the attendance even more!

I couldn't agree more, I have been a vendor for every Mopar Carlisle that they have had and before. This years show I would not want to miss because of the 50th anniversary for E/Bodies and the Superbirds but to me it isn't worth my health.I am 71 years old and would like to be able to attend more shows in the future. There are people from most all the States,Canada, and other countries that attend the show for good reason, it is the best Mopar show I know of. My vendor spots have been paid for since last October,I prefer not to loose my money but I will if need be.Hershey has already cancelled there show also.
I paid for my vending spots last July on my way out....I wonder if there is any type of date change or cancellation if they will at least work with us as far as a credit for 2021 maybe ?
I understand if the date remains and "I" chose not to go I'll likely be SOL :'( although that is pretty nasty after having the same spots for 25+years...
pretty small price to pay to keep your spot for the following year. What are they like 90 bucks each spot?
I'm in it for $346.58 CDN whether I go or not. :dunno:
But that's worth it to keep your spot for 2021 isn't it?
If the show was CANCELLED or the date was changed and I couldn't make the new date, I would like to see that money PAY for 2021 is what I'm saying....
If the show goes on the regular date but I Choose not to go then they money is wasted..
Not according to one Carlisle Productions employee.
A friend who takes a car every year called a couple days ago and mentioned the border being closed issue and that he didn't feel safe going even if the border did open.
She informed him that his spots payment would be put toward 2021 no problem.
But you must inform them of your intentions.
I cant see it being any different if you have a car spot or vendor spot.

Looks like the show will be cancelled.
With the sudden rise in covid cases today due to these ridiculous riots things might change. This can't help .
As of today . . Ed has indicated this is still on schedule for July. Sorry to hear some are canceling reservations . . I hope to go and will in the show is on . . Am concerned that attendance will be down. Yes a lot of work to go . . But look forward to this every year. Sucks Chryco wont be there . .
Yep, I'm driving all the way out.
I hate airplanes, hate rental cars, hate the lack of freedom.
cost is about the same.
I can't tow a car home on a plane if I buy one.
Can't carry parts home on a plane either.
And a one day drive isn't so bad.
Last year I drove and picked up a cuda and ended up selling it in the vending area. Lot G54 as I recall.
Maybe you saw it.
awh , it's not so bad. I drive to Miami once a year and do it with a 4 or 5 hour sleep in the truck. Better to get there and be done with the drive. I'm hooked, what can I say. Maybe I can get on a few of those parts deals I heard about before the main day this year since half the people won't be there.
This is only my 2nd year so I'm just exited due to that. After 20 years or so I probably would care less, and fly in and not be early or late and just mose around. I barely saw all the parts last year. Walked the car field once and went back to the parts yard. Loved it!
Kinda depends on who travels with me. I might be heading through Illinois but not sure yet.
It adds one hour onto my trip to take the northern route, but then I don't have to go through st.louis, minneapolis and columbus. The least of the big cities I have to travel the better.
Quotebut then I don't have to go through st.louis, minneapolis and columbus. The least of the big cities I have to travel the better.
I think you mean Indianapolis...not Minneapolis. St Louis sucks but Indianapolis and Columbus are a piece of cake. Maybe if I drove through St Louis more often it wouldn't be a big deal. I've been driving through Indianapolis and Columbus for years. Those don't phase me any more.

Scary thought that I hope doesn't materialize, but can you imagine being told to wear a face diaper (aka mask) in 100 degrees at 90% humidity? Man, I had so looked forward to this.

I just remember 2013. It was 98* on Friday, and 102* on Saturday. Oh yeah, the air conditioning in my Hotel room didn't work either. I complained, and they sent someone up Saturday while I was at the show. It wasn't any better. In the end, I could have saved some money, and been cooler sleeping out on the grass that weekend.
To your point though, I wouldn't be surprised if face masks were required. We live in a different world now.
Maybe it's just me but we're outside not in a closed room on top of each other so if we use some common sense I don't see the problem. Keep a mask in your pocket and if the situation arises where you feel it necessary put it on. I'm ready to get out or go crazy!
Only 10 days away from Spring Carlisle, and still no announcement so I guess it's a go :cooldance: This will be there test for the future shows I reckon

@anlauto (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/anlauto_19) so you won't have any issues at the border?
Yea..I was never planning to attend Spring Carlisle, but I have been watching for an announcement regarding it, because as I said, it will likely be the "test" for all the shows coming this Summer....
Our borders are locked up until June 21st as dodi says, and that might get extended so who knows...And if we would be mandated to a 14 day isolation upon returning from the US, that wouldn't be good either... :'(
The governor had a press briefing two days ago and is still holding all counties in the green{which still isn't cumberland county until the end of this week supposedly} to a limit of 250 people..Unless of course, you all want to come and "protest" the show...Which seems to be okay for ignoring the social distancing all over the country at the moment..
Keep in mind Carlisle Events is a business..They're doing it to make money...And that's the bottom line..I wouldn't expect them to "do the right thing" by anyone so I don't know how some of you are spinning the theories on how this should play out..They've already collected the money ahead of time for these shows and will try to keep it in the bank as long as they can before it has to be returned...And there's no way out of a monetary return when there's no show unless you agree to giving them another year of interest off your money..The easy way out is to keep flipping the show dates...Unless they make a winter mopar meet and we all put the snow tires on and crank the heat to stay warm..
I'm not trying to :Stirring: I'm just being realistic...I'm ready to get out there and walk the aisles for any of these events but lets face it between the governor's orders and the reality of no way to come up with a plan anyone would accept for social distancing without wiping out the show,I'm not seeing any of them happening at this point..
I can see them holding out from a financial point of view like you mentioned.....but come on.....a heck of a lot of much larger money making events have been cancelled months in advance...around here it's every parade or Summer festival, or how about sporting events ?
A lot less stress full to just throw in the towel for 2020 ask for some Government cash and take a year off... that's probably the best "thing to do" at this point.

I'm still trying to be optimistic, and haven't even cancelled my hotel reservation yet but it is going to be a close call whether it happens next month or not, maybe 50/50 at this point. :dunno:
They haven't canceled the spring swap meet yet and that's less then 2 weeks away. I guess that will be the test of some sort if they have it or not. I can't see it being that big considering it's been getting smaller every year but I just want to get out and do something.

I fully expect if the border does loosen up there will be a 14 quarantine on both sides. However, I have heard that nobody is monitoring that on the US side.

Some of the dirt tracks in the area are having their events with spectators in the stands..I guess they don't care about the mandates...And on the flip side I guess the attendees aren't concerned as well and just want to get out..I'm wondering if Carlisle Productions will take the same approach and say the heck with the mandates we want the money...
If it happens I'm with you Rich I'm ready to walk the show and see how this will play out just to see if people will be responsible and respective of others...If it's not safe I'll simply leave..I'm wondering just how many will show up even if it's a go...I'm betting older people{not that I'm a spring chicken} won't even consider risking their health or life and wait another year for the vaccine to come into play..
I've been going to Carlisle for years and have dreamt about how one day I'll be able to actually get my car done and show it. Would be awesome to have it ready for the 50th anniversary of the e body. I've been putting in a lot of time during this lockdown to try and get 'er done in time for Carlisle. It's gonna be down to the wire. Even if I get it done "in time", I need some time to work out the bugs once I finally get it on the road. It's a 3 hour drive. Car has to make the trip. Do they let people register last minute?
There's no problem registering at the show. Just pull in by gate 3 and register there. I'm in the same boat as you, just finished another car but waiting for plates so I can break it in and get any bugs out and not on the 160 mile trip to Carlisle. Although I did do that with another car. It'll break in or break as they say!
Just like I imagined....The border might be closed until late July now :dunno:

This means that there can be 75% occupancy. The whole state opens up to yellow June 5. It if anything like here in Ga people will be out and about like a normal day. We've had 2 Swap Meets here and they have been packed with people in May and June.
I feel that this has been blown way out of proportion.
Give it another month and everything will be good to go and like any other normal day.

And if GA numbers don't start trending upward by the end of June I think I will agree with you. I want to agree with you now, but I'm not convinced yet. Just sooo many variables to try to understand how this virus propagates.

Thursday night? or Friday at the earliest?
Thanks,
I know there were cars on the field as of Thursday last year. As I recall someone said Wednesday.
But i'm no expert by any means on Carlisle.

Does anyone know where I can find a schedule?
I'm trying to get a better idea of timing and sequence of events as a first timer. So far I have found very little
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would think right now with the amount of Covid-19 changes going on, that a daily schedule would likely be up in the air....who knows if there will even be celebrity appearances, seminars, bikini contests, or burn out contests, test drives, Hellcat rides, etc.......I'm not even sure there will be indoor displays like Building "T" or "Y" they way I'm reading the "new" rules.....
I think you're just going to have to show up and take what you get ?
There really is no schedule other then a few seminars throughout the day which repeat each day. In past years if you wanted to see everything you'll need a couple of days at least. Time flys when you're having fun. I've never missed one and I still haven't seen everything. Hopefully this year won't be different.
Yeah, I guess that's my concern.
I'm driving 20 hours to be there as a panelist for Hemi swap seminars. With no schedule I'm kind of perplexed as to when I'll be able to roam the fields vs be there to help with the seminar. I don't think I'll make the 20 hour drive of seminars are cancelled.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
First off...I would like to think that things will continue to get better and restrictions may be lifted the closer we get to the event :fingerscrossed:
....and this is just MY OPINION.....but I would think seminars could still be a go. The ones I've attended over the years got only maybe 20-30 guests crammed into a hot sticky tent in the show field. If they space out the chairs by 6 feet, they will need a larger tent with a better sound system I would think, but that could easily be done :alan2cents: or maybe more seminars allowing less people at a time to attend. I think with the overall attendance way down, the amount of people wanting to attend a seminar will be manageable :dunno:
You should contact the other people on your Hemi panel and see their thought on attending. :drinkingbud:
Reading over the Covid 19 fact sheet, in my opinion, it opens up more questions than answers. I understand that things will be changing daily up to the show date and most probably during the show itself. That is one reason that many of the shows and festivals have decided to cancel their events entirely.
We have been attending and vending at Carlisle Events since 1992. In years past, the event magazine and directory has been posted on line by this time I believe for the Chrysler show. The event schedule would be posted with locations for feature displays, seminar times, etc. I just looked and did not see it listed on the Carlisle site. Does anyone know of anyone that has a car scheduled for Building T or Y? Usually a confirmation has been sent out to those selected owners notifying them of the selection by this time.
Reading the fact sheet, it states that high traffic buildings will have one way foot traffic and marked entrance and exit locations. Social distancing to be encouraged. All that it takes is one state health inspector to visit the operation and shut it down. The same with the seminars. In the past, they have set up tents with chairs so that people could attend them. Are they going to spread out the chairs every 6 feet apart? How do they even attempt to offer autograph sessions? The sheet already states that grandstand activities will be limited or eliminated. I cannot imagine that Chrysler would put itself into the liabilities of offering a ride along as in the years past.
Thankfully, the "Spring Meet" is scheduled to start on June 17th and the Chevrolet Show is June 26th-27th. This will help Carlisle Events to get things worked out. At the same time, it will provide us a good indication of how attendance is and what guidelines are required and enforced for the event to be held. By this time next week, the Spring Meet will be over with and I feel that we can have a much better ideal on what to expect.

Hey Blake, I own AAR 0B289359, looking for it's original block too... :drinkingbud:

I think it's the right decision, we have less than a 100K reported cases total, and you guys have over 2.1 million :o or 118K deaths compared to our 8K deaths.....no need to spread it across the borders :alan2cents: :canada: :grouphug: :unitedstates:

I also think we are looking at places like New Zealand and more domestically places like Price Edward Island, Newfoundland etc... Where they have no cases because of their ability to close their borders. Those places are fully opening. I know Canada is 2/3 of a continent and not an island but we are seeing this closed border strategy working. With no other options really, I rather be doing border closures then the alternative of nothing. I think Hawaii is taking this same approach too? I am not too sure.
I am really going to miss Carlisle and most other car shows near me have been cancelled. Cars are a hobby and a break from the day to day.

It should be 250 people per some standard area. Except the men's room by the food court, where else are there 250 people "gathered" at one time inside Carlisle?
The PA Governor shut it down at 5AM this morning. Gates open at 7AM...people are going to e pissed!!!!
I'm here now. Lot of empty spaces. Almost nobody has a mask on. We'll see how big the fine is if they get one or if they get shut down.
Keep us posted !

Well if you never heard anything about what's been going on these last few months you wouldn't know it if you went to Carlisle. The swap meet was probably about 60 percent of the vendors that they use to have but it has been going down the last few years. Also it was the first day so maybe that had something to do with it too. No Mopar parts but there hardly is other then the Mopar show. Was a decent crowd and everyone was walking around like every other year. Other then the Food court tables spread out very nice and not many food venders open in the food court it was business as usual. I probably saw 10 people with a mask on. Curious to see what the State is going to do.
