Title: One of the Best V Code 70 cudas
Post by: Morty426 on April 09, 2018, 01:00:10 AM
This is not my car but I do know two of the former owners and the current owner.  It has a great history, low miles and the current owner has done a lot to make it near perfect.

Yes I know - was used to the Moparts rule that you couldn't post your own car ad - was trying to help out the owner.

What do you think it will sell for ?

Alan,

That's a tough question.  The problem is finding a comparable sale.  This car is all original Ma Mopar sheet metal.  Never had a quarter hung or trunk floor replaced.  It has great options and the owner has taken very close to OE in quality.

So you get down to comps.  Well a car like that doesn't come around every day.

However my brother sold a similar car within the past year - 70 cuda 440+6, FE5, black leather, N96, A22, all the good stuff but was a 4 SPEED.  However the restoration, though very high caliber, was not near OE like this car.  He sold it for $100K

So the question is around preference.  Let's face it, in most of these old cars people want a 4 speed.  Some people like red over blue, I like blue.  I can tell you that 4.10 geared automatics like this car are a kick in the pants to drive,  Probably the funnest.

With all that said I think this car deserves to go over the $100k mark as that is the quality of the car.

:alan2cents:

I'd be in agreement with you...The quality of the restoration may bring it very close to $100K.....but the auto will hold it back and although a lot of people like blue......it's not black or pink or even  lime lite which would boost it further in my opinion.... :alan2cents:

Another issue is the market seems to be flooded with 1970 440+6 Shaker Cuda's these days.....a lot to choose from :dunno:

Looks like an amazing car!  Good luck to the seller on the sale!   :bigthumb:

I don't really know the Cuda market and 4 speeds are desirable all right but the quality of this car is outstanding. I don't think I would sell it for $100k if it were mine. Good no excuse cars always find a buyer. Like I say though what do I know.

Personally I wouldn't let it go for $100K either...... Having it judged and awarded an OE award, be it bronze, silver or gold would go a long way to achieving TOP dollar for the car.....maybe even $150K range for Gold ?

That's a good comp ... car wise, option wise, but no where near QUALITY wise....not even close.

Agreed, nowhere near close. Boy, am I the only one that wants to pitch everyone of those rad caps I see on a Mopar? I guess we all have our pet peeves.

I think he really doesn't want to sell it, but he might have entered OE-land - where your car is too nice to drive and enjoy

Car isn't that far away from me, I wish I'd have had a chance to see it!
Problem with a car like this is that it is a show/trailer queen and it gets tough to find the enthusiast who wants a museum piece.  Personally, I've come to prefer NOM cars as you can drive them with less worry.  Blow the motor equals a bad day, bad week, maybe month, but not a disaster like if you blow a #s engine.
Hope the car finds a good caretaker and the owner doesn't lose too much on what he has in it.

I think the greenies want to drink it or something. They don't want us pulling it out of the ground and putting it to good use.

Hey everyone -

I was just trolling through the forums today and ran across this posting from back in April. I never even saw it. That is my car that is currently for sale.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you (seriously) for all the kind words and good feedback on my car. I really appreciate it.

As we all know, nothing is perfect and there's always room for improvement, but I honestly tried my best to source the best assembly-line parts and restoration processes for this car. I've bought parts directly from many of you in this forum and on Moparts. I still have a large stash of NOS stuff I've been wanting to add to the car at some point, but have yet to get around to it. I'm pretty detailed and picky by nature, so it's reflected in all I did with my Cuda. One of my favorite parts of doing this ongoing restoration was to look at unrestored/survivor cars and researching how the factory assembly and painting process were. I tried to do this before I restored or repainted anything so be sure I got it as close as I could.

Amazingly enough the car is still for sale. I've been very surprised that nobody has even come to look at it, but maybe that's for a reason I have yet to understand. Honestly, I've been very conflicted about selling it, as I still really like the car and it would be very difficult to replace. Well...at least I could not afford to buy another one outright with this type of restoration.

Anyway - thanks again for all the kind words.  :)

Rob

Your car is absolutely awesome. I'd buy that in an instant if I had the dough. If you are at all not sure I think you would be wise to keep it. Think how hard it would be to replace and what it would cost you.

I have seen the car and it is stunning!  :takepicture:

If you could get the car out in front of potential buyers, it would certainly sell itself.  Do you have a "for Sale" video, maybe send it off to Legendary MC, Volo, and afew others??  :alan2cents:

Are you bringing it to Carlisle?

If I had the money I would buy it just so I could do a burnout in front of the former owners house  :burnout:
