Title: Daily driver?
Post by: gumby on January 31, 2018, 03:06:32 AM
Mines a 2006 Honda Element. Most dog friendly vehicle ever made! lol. They actually had a dog accessory package available.
Had a bad, a kennel, a waterbowl, extra fans, an aluminum sliding ramp, all kinds of stuff.

Curious what every one else drives everyday?

I used to have a luxury car as a daily driver but when I got into muscle cars I realised the less money I spend on my daily car the more money I have for my fun car.

I traded in an Audi S4 on my current driver a 2014 Hyundai Accent 6 speed.

My friends thought I had lost my marbles but now I have two cars and way less maintenance.

2006 Magnum R/T AWD

It suites me perfectly. The AWD claws through the snow in winter, the rear hatch has ample room for hauling my junk, the second row of seating has plenty of room for hauling my friends, and it gets better mileage than my truck.

The 5.7 Hemi is decently quick too. I plan on taking it to test n' tune at Muncie dragway to see what it can do. Its the most practical vehicle I can think of, wish the styling was better though.

2007 Chevy Suburban. I would have bought a Dodge but they don't make anything like the suburban ( and they need to!) Wife drives it most of the time and we tow a 30ft travel trailer with it along with hauling around our 3 boys.
Mopar needs to make a updated Ramcharger from the pickup chassis with the diesel engine !

2003 GMC Sierra 1500. I love this truck. It has 285k km or 177k miles and other than the cab corners showing rust it's in good shape. Should get another 5 years out of it.

2015 Honda Accord. All my daily drivers had been Honda for at least the last 25 years. Get in and go, very low maintenance. Not much fun in my daily commute. Fun starts in the weekends when I get in my Challengers. Feels like Clark Kent to Superman.

I usually drive a 2002 Mini Cooper S, 2013 Fiat Abarth or 2014 Ram Big Horn EcoDiesel. The cars are nimble and fun to drive while also getting too gas mileage. The Ecodiesel is used mostly as a truck to haul things and pull the box trailer with the race car. The Ram is loaded and really nice to drive. I'm happy with all three.

The when the weather is nice I try to rotate driving the toys.  :)

I used to car pool to work with my dad but he just retired in October.  He was going to sell me his 06 Sebring really cheap since he wouldn't need it any more.  Three days before he retired, the 2.7's timing chain went out.

That forced us to buy another car.  I've got a 14 Ram black edition but didn't want to put a lot of miles on it.  It sits in the garage most of the time.  We bought a 16 Dart that my wife drives every day.  I inherited her 08 Sebring.  It gets decent mileage but it's super boring to drive.  It's got 206K miles, has a cracked windshield and has had an engine noise for the last 5 years.  I'm going to drive it until it completely dies.  Hopefully it will last until we get the other two vehicles payed off.  If not, I'll be forced to drive the Ram every day.

We work from home. But have to travel a lot.  So use the truck when we drive. 15k miles a year. Good in the snow and dragging the trailer. Lol.  F350.

04.5 Dodge 3500 SRW 4x4 6 speed.  Bought new in 2004.  Over 600,000 Km on it.  It now burns a bit of oil and an injector is going.  But I have never touched the engine. My wife has a 2010 Honda CR-V.  I also have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma that I will be selling soon, because I am starting a new job with a company truck.

Well I used to have a 2001 Lincoln Town Car until I pulled over on an on ramp to send an email. When I shifted it back into drive I accidentally went one gear too far into 2nd. Accelerated to 85, set the cruise and had my music on so I never heard the engine winding out for about 4 miles until it lost power. Pulled over and about as soon as I parked the heater core exploded from the hot radiator fluid. Sitting in the yard awaiting engine swap to make it a derby/enduro car.

Now a 2013 used Ford Fusion energi. 20 miles of electric power before the engine kicks in. Enough to get me to work where I can plug it again on their dime. averaging 62 MPGs between gas and electric. Helps off set Cuda, Boat and F350.

I have a huge soft spot for the Japanese super cars of the late 80's and 90's. My buddy's parents had a Monza Red 1992 Mitsubishi VR-4 manual with a tan coloured interior. It was a beast. My personal favourite is the Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo but they were all so cool. RX-7, Supra etc...

Very nice ride.

Costly trip to the store yesterday. I didn't like the cheap interior and 6 speed in my 15 so we bought an 18 Sport. I also wanted the dual exhaust (easy to add 71 shotgun tips), R/T hood etc. 3.90 gears should tow like gangbusters too I figure.

Weren't that the way most of them were back in the day? I remember washing my Charger, and how nice and shiny it looked when the last rinse froze on it? lol.
Couldn't get that kind of a shine with a wax? It was a once in a lifetime deal. Lasted 24 hours. Just a thin rinse with a beautiful shine, all around. It was SWEET! lol.
As soon as the sun came out, it was gone, lol.
