Description: Charlie Ryan was a country western honky tonk - rockabilly musician living in the state of Washington. After serving in WWII, he resumed his music making. Inspired by a newly released '50's car song "Hot Rod Race ", Charlie wrote a sequel song about a Hot Rod that he was actually building. The song he wrote was "Hot Rod Lincoln", and referred directly to a hot rod Model A that was mentioned in the song " Hot Rod Race". He finished the song as well the construction of his Hot Rod, " Hot Rod Lincoln", both sharing the same name. He took his personal 1941 Lincoln Zephyr and removed the body and driveline. He shortened the frame 2 ft, and then installed a 1949 Lincoln Continental flathead V-12 and 3 speed overdrive tranny. He then placed a 1930 Model A body on top, creating the car that his song was written about , the Hot Rod Lincoln. If you listen to the lyrics, they describe the car exactly. His version of the song, the original, describes the car having 12 cylinders, but all other versions ( covers ) of the song mention 8 cylinders, and there's a story about that. The car still has the flathead V-12. The dash was constructed using the Lincoln continental dash, by sectioning out the middle part, so it would fit in the Model A body. Charlie kept the car for about 50 years, touring the northwest. Very cool car !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw0I4LIPTm8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcCj4ogE-m8&t=26s Picture Stats: Views: 717 Filesize: 55.07kB Height: 406 Width: 609 Keywords: Hot Rod Lincoln Posted by: davy442 at January 30, 2021, 08:06:24 AM Image Linking Codes
