I bought this last Monday in Ohio. Should have it home here on Thursday. True 440 RT. Thanks to jimynick and 303 Mopar for their help in this.
Here's the story...Bill, who owns the car, gets Mark (not their real names) who owns an automotive re-conditioning shop and buys and sells old cars, to handle the sale of this car for him. The car comes with the original hood, intake and air breather along with "a few other parts on a skid". Mark picks up the car, takes it to his shop and preps it for sale without seeing the other parts. Here's what I got. I did not know I was getting this when I made the deal!
Super happy for you! Congrats!
I want a ride! SOON! :)
I'll come and see you when I get it on the road. I ordered vanity plates for it so I have to wait until they come in.
You did great!
And I'm really jealous. :bye:
Thats awesome Murray! Congrats. i can not wait to check it out.
What engine is in it?
That looks like a tonn of good parts! Let me know when the new speed shop opens up and I will come buy!

Thanks John. I forgot I had posted that.
You're welcome, now you can update that thread with a "found" and watch all the other ones come out of the woodwork. Speaking of "update", your profile needs to include that latest 2 purchases.
Couple things, is it the 4 speed you hoped for and are you putting a red rump stripe on it?

Hell ya! Welcome to the '68 Charger club! So glad this worked out, and sounds like you scored on all the extras. We want video of the delivery too! :needphotos:
Good looking Hot Rod.
Black Charger. Bad to the Bone. AT or 4 speed?
I must say I had the previlage to ride in a triple black 69 HEMI Charger almost 40 years ago and it is a life long memory that got me into Mopar. Congratulation.

I wanted a 440 4 speed because my Challenger is a 340 auto. This one is also an auto but it ticked all the other boxes and I'm not really a 4 speed guy anyway so I'm cool with it. I will be changing the tail stripe to red so it falls in with the colour scheme of my Challengers. I'm also going to go back to the original hood. And I ordered vanity plates.
Beautiful!!
If you ever get the 4 speed bug again and want to trade for a 4 speed R/T let me know.
Hey! The first couple of those photos look mighty familiar!LOL So, you finally let the cat out of the bag, eh? The car IS nice and we gave it a pretty good looking over, up and down. It not only looks good, it sounds good and despite Murray's vow to change the tail stripe, I think he may come around to that black one. We'll see. Murray, congrats on purchasing not only your, but many other's wish car and I can't wait to see the look on Doug's face when you take it over to his place! A 4 pack! How many guys are THAT lucky?
I had brunch with them this morning and filled them in.
Super happy for ya man! That looks sweet. :woohoo:
wow, that is a sweet ride!
Great looking car!
And the old girl came with her own "dowry"!
Best of luck with her. :ohyeah:
Very Nice-Best of Luck with it.

Good plan on changing the hood. Once you see how :wowzers: black stripes look on top of black paint, I think you'll change your mind. Red stripes look great but flat black stripes on a black car look :wowzers:

I've seen how it looks. I've seen and driven the car. The black stripes on a black car have never been my favorite. To me they're not very visible so what's the point. My 74 is black with red accents and my 12 RT is black with red stripe so a red stripe on this one just makes sense, to me anyways.
:Thud:Way to go, thats a beaut. Once we start getting consistently nice days i will have to check that thing out. I'm a +1 on leaving the black stripes on it but i also see your point on making it match your stable, and its your car. :burnout:
I say change the 74 & the 12 to match the 68..... But thats just my opinion... Of course I'm right so you should keep that in mind....
:haha:

@jimynick (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/jimynick_55) You have a 4 pack Ian. The Challenger, your pick-up, the Carola and the Passat. :pokeeye:
C'mon Diamond Jim, you can't compare my rusty F150, 300k Camry, flat black 7/8ths assembled Challenger and my wife's Passat to your 3, yes lads, count 'em- 3 Challengers and now that sweet honey of a '68 Charger!! YOUR problem is that you can't clone yourself so that you could drive them all at the same time, ya damn old farmer! :))
She's a beautiful car!
Congrats Murray.
You worked hard for it. Enjoy.

I just did a double take on the flat black stripes and my goodness those do look flipping awesome. I don't know what kind of hoods they come with so keep putting pictures up as you go. 1968 charger, I can't think of a better year for a charger.
Beautiful acquisition Murray. :inlove:
Gonna be tough every morning walking out to the garage..trying to figure out which car to take! :burnout:
