Title: Dip primer color
Post by: Challenger in NC on June 15, 2019, 02:36:45 PM
What shade of gray would be correct for the undercarriage. I've heard medium gray and dark gray. Anyone know what shade of gray it would be close to? Does not have to be exact, the shop will mix up their own primer and since the underside will not be body color, I'd like to get something close.

It varied from plant to plant and from time of year.  I'm pretty sure at one point LA was even using a black primer.

color varied - what color is on your car (under gas tank is usually undisturbed) or a car built near yours

Dan was regering to the color of your cars dip primer & as he mentioned the area protected by the fuel tank is usually a good place to see the original primer

Yes, sorry, was distracted when I replied.
That evidence is long gone. Trunk floor was replaced and I never really examined the original floor after it was removed. Since the whole car was blasted, not sure there is any other place to look,  I just need something approximate.

I just go with a darker, bluer grey like a "machinery grey" ....but I would NEVER say mine is 100% correct....RestoRick sells the "correct" stuff.

Ill try to pick a grey close to this one, although with the lighting in different photos, still tricky to judge it.

That colour is what was under the original FC7 that flaked off from Mopar from the factory.

Looks pretty close to photo above, kind of close to your standard rattle can gray primer.
