Title: Recommendation for a room Carlisle 2020
Post by: pink aar on July 18, 2019, 09:54:00 AM
I've been on the net looking for a room. It seems that it's about sold out. Is there any recommendation on a hotel??? I guess I'll be making calls to each hotel to see if they may have a room. Thanks

Keep in mind I have  truck and a 28ft trailer for parking.

I was looking as well and appears that a lot of the hotels won't offer available room until we are closer to the show.  If you can wait, ebodies.org hopefully will make a decision as to a club hotel . .

Wait until later this year, then things will open up with booking a room. I usually book around Christmas.

Hey guys I think we need to come to a decision on the club hotel for next year fairly soon - I don't want to wait too late because I'm going to be looking to move before the show next year and don't want a hotel reservation to slip through the cracks...

Should I start a poll?  Do we just suck it up and give the Park Inn another chance?  I'm really torn but unfortunately I will not have any time to look in to other options this year...

Thoughts?

Although I thought the Park Inn was ok . . I vote that we go back to the other site.  There are multiple hotels, we have a decent lot for after show activities and certainly . . Many memories.  There is a budget hotel, a mid class and a couple high end hotels.  In our group of  hotels around the lot, there is

A) Capital Inn, New Cumberland (I have stayed here and paid $80 a night if booked early)
B) Holiday Inn, Harrisburg South
C) Fairfield Inn, Harrisburg West

And then in front is a newer La Quinta hotel that I don't think anyone has tried.   All of these hotels are easily within walking distance to our party lot.

That is 4 hotels that I would think should satisfy all the members.  50 years of ebodies is going to be an amazing show!  I wish all members would make plans to come to this hotel group at least this one year.  The club meet this year should be epic!

I would prefer a medium level hotel.
The park in was ok.  And seemed to have some cool accommodations with the two bars and great outside areas.  Was nice to have some parking lot parties as well.
I'm game for whatever the club wants to do.  Just let me know where so I can get a room booked.

I think there's a lot of merit to what Spikedog is suggesting. There is a nucleus of different priced hotels all together there. And I agree that we need to decide sooner rather than later. The "Ontario Invasion" needs to get rooms booked! @Cudajason (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cudajason_260) @jimynick (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/jimynick_55) @Brads70 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/brads70_12) @ebodycopper (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/ebodycopper_138) @JonnyMagnum (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/jonnymagnum_839) @RJChallenger (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/rjchallenger_1651) @anlauto (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/anlauto_19) @Jay Bee (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/jay-bee_351) @cordodge (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cordodge_272) @dodj (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/dodj_816)

Every year for the last 20 years I've stayed at the same place 2 miles from the fairgrounds. It used to be a Motel 6 but last year it changed to The American Inn....I already have my reservations for 2020 made.

I guess I can book and always cancel. Due to what I'm dealing with, it'll all depend on my car's readiness.

I am attending Carlisle but I always stay in Harrisburg. I prefer the food there and the nightlife is pretty good too.

While looking at the group of hotels that I mentioned above, I did notice that a couple stated that the price they offered was not refundable and then they offered another price that was refundable?  Yesterday I did book a room at the La Quinta as it was reasonable and refundable if the group decides on another hotel . . . @ViperMan (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/viperman_88) Thoughts?

@72 Challenger (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/72-challenger_1015) I didn't mean to exclude you but be darned if I could remember your name. I know I missed a few other Ontarians. Gramz something comes to mind as one.

When I look online, the Park Inn has no rooms available. I'm sure that will change as the show gets closer, and people start canceling.

I have no problem going back to our old spot in Mechanicsburg.

We decided too late so ended up at the Holiday Inn Express in Mechanicsburg down the street from the "club" hotel, it was decent but didn`t have a lot of extra parking for trailers or the "party". The nice thing was a bit more convenient location wise than the other site but it`s not really a big deal as we only need to go back and forth to the hotel twice each day.  I am fine going back there and if the wife comes along she`ll still have her breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express - happy (fed) wife, happy life!  :))

I called the Park Inn yesterday again and the guy told me that they are closing down soon. Apparently they are building a giant shopping mall there. I searched online to see if I could confirm it but I couldn't find anything. I know a few of you guys weren't in love with the place but I really liked the fact that there was a restaurant and several bars on site and tons of other stuff very close to it.

This restaurant is on site!   http://www.boomeranggrill.com/    Texas holdem games on Thursday!  Has a patio, dining room and a sports bar!  Menu looks like a nice selection!  Check the map in the web site . . shows the location and all the hotels in close proximity  . . . looks like about 9 hotels in the general area!   Also has a comedy club on Friday and Saturday!

@blown motor (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/blown-motor_52) No worries, it's hard remembering everyone on the internet! I have never been able to make the parking lot parties or the dinners so I would give no input towards a hotel. I also don't travel through southern Ontario en route to Carisle since I am coming from Ottawa. There is a small chance I might travel down in my buddies plane, he just picked up a Cesna 172.

I am going to be there in 2020 though and thats what matters.

The Park Inn is closing?!?!  That's insane!  Like that area needs another giant shopping mall...  Sheesh...

Well if that is indeed true, then I agree with Spikedog and we go back to the original area.  I agree it isn't perfect and I know that some people are going to stick with what they know, but I can't stress enough that the parking lot "hangout" each night is the greatest part of the entire weekend, EVEN if Spikedog is like, the most annoying person you've ever met...

So even if just for one year, consider stepping out of your comfort zone and lets fill the parking lot with e-bodies...  :)

@Spikedog08 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/4cruzin_11) - should we do an official vote?  If the Park Inn is closing, then we definitely need a solid plan...

We need a solid plan either way. Maybe we should set up a pole.

Thanks Viperdork!   I think it is a no brainer . . . Just go back to the original party area!  There are literally 9 hotels within walking distance to our party parking lot . . And hotels that are cheap to expensive . . Plus the restaurant in the front looks like it has upgraded . . Best of both worlds!

Set up a pole?  Are there gonna be strippers?  Or do you want to set up a poll?
