Title: Motown missile wheels
Post by: dave73 on September 08, 2019, 01:47:31 PM
Anyone know the name of the wheels on the Motown missile? Looks like front and rear are different styles? Also if you know of a repro company, that'd be helpful!

They look like ET slotted aluminum.  :alan2cents:

The ETs are close but the opening is larger. From some more research look like 'slot mags'. Having a hard time finding repros

They are Fentons.  They are called Fenton Gyros.  They are not easy to find....especially in nice condition.  For a really nice set, with the offset that would match a vintage Pro Stock E Body (with correct bolt pattern), expect to pay a couple grand or more.  The Fenton screw on center domes are equally very very hard to find.

When or if you stumble accross a vintage set of Mopar Fenton Gyros in the possession of an old drag racer, you need to go directly to an ATM and buy them.  Lol

So are there close repros our there that are affordable? I found some on summit/JEGS but the backspacing won't work

I agree: Fenton Gyro's and they're sought after.

I was going to say Fenton only because of the big stickers on the side of the car  :dunno:

I had a complete set of these about 7 years ago.  The fronts were 15x4 and are worth more than the rears.  They are way tougher to locate.  Im not sure if anyone out there is producing a 15x4 slotted rim that wpuld look like a vintage Fenton.

Searched around the ET site a bit more and they actually do have wheels that are very close to the style. Thanks to those who suggested there.

Fronts look like their Sprint. Problem is those seem to be only a value line wheel that comes in 15x5.5 with 3" backspace. Will need to determine if those will fit up front and what size tire to run. May also call ET to see if they make these in other sizes/backspacing, seems like all other wheels they do?

Rears look like their Five Window wheel.

If I go this route, may have them powdercoated to an old school 'magnesium look' as I'm not a huge fan of the polished lip.

Ansen makes some but they are not really the same as the old ones.

Back in the day, I had Fenton Gyros and everyone else had Cragars. Now I have Cragars and everyone wants Fentons !!!    :pullinghair:
