I'm installing a Hydramax hydraulic throw out bearing from American Powertrain on my 70 Challenger.  One of the final steps is to install the reservoir.  I was curious if anyone else on the forum has one of these and where they installed the reservoir.   Pics would be appreciated if possible.

I've been thinking about mounting mid firewall, roughly under the voltage regulator so it would mostly be out of sight but still accessible for adding fluid.

I put one just like that on the firewall using two nutserts....

.....Oops...but I guess it would depend on if and what brake booster you're using.... :dunno:

This one with Wilwood manual brakes...I just made an "L" bracket off of the existing firewall studs...

I have stock power brake booster which fills that area.  There's a small pocket of space between the booster and hood hinge, but I'm pretty certain the hinge will hit the reservoir when the hood's closed.

I'm finally back to working on the hydraulic throw-out bearing.  Since I'm not going to be using the stock ECU, I decided to use its location to mount the throw-out bearing reservoir.   After playing with some paper templates, this simple bracket shape seemed to provide adequate support in the smallest footprint. The ECU and reservoir base were used to mark the hole drilling locations.  The small standoffs on the firewall provide enough space for some low profile screws to mount the reservoir on the bracket. 

The rubber hose to connect the reservoir and master cylinder that came in the bearing kit is about a foot short for this location, so I have to get a new piece of  hose.  For routing the hose, I plan to mostly follow the front brake line across the firewall and down to the bearing master cylinder.   

Hopefully this will all work. If not, no harm done. 

That's how I add modded stuff too. I like to make it so if I pull it out no one will be able to tell.

I mounted mine on the master cylinder stud.

Where the oval hole is in the firewall for the clutch rod passes through, you have to drill a couple of holes to mount the slave cylinder

I had to drill a couple holes in the firewall for mounting the master cylinder for the throw out bearing.  Otherwise, no.   I may have some pictures of this on my restoration thread - I'll check a little later today If not, I'll add them here.

Also, I ordered one of the reservoir brackets from SST.  They don't list it as a separate part on their website but will sell them separately if you contact them directly.  It was $10 plus shipping ($9 for me).  I'll add a picture of it to this thread after I get it. 

Thanks.  In addition to the air conditioning system, I'll need to decide on which hydraulic clutch setup to use and buy that as well so I can mock it all up before painting.

I fabricated a bracket for mine that attached to the MC studs.
