Title: Who's good at deciphering a Mopar Parts Manual?
Post by: 1 Wild R/T on October 06, 2019, 07:14:33 PM
Working on my 68 Coronet Convertible & discovered I appear to have the wrong torsion bars for my trunk....
I had the right ones buttttt... We won't discuss that any further...
Anyway, it appears from what I see that convertible doesn't matter, any other 68 Coronet hardtop/coupe or convertible should have the same torsion bars, Satellite is different which is what I suspect I have & at some date the length may have changed?

Is my understanding correct?

Thanks!

I do not know B=Bodies very well, but could the 2" difference be for a mid year option change?  Did the start offering a wing any anything that added weight to the deck lid?

There had to be different bars for wings & luggage racks etc but that shouldn't change the length only the diameter should change , sounds more like a change in the hinge or bracing

In 68 there were no wings or luggage racks on B bodies....  I don't know why there was a 2" length change but my car is pretty early (9/11/67) but the 44.5" bars crash into the bracing so I'm thinking the later bars might be what I need..

Anyway I appreciate the input, it appears I was reading the parts manual correctly.... I thought I was but they don't exactly make things clear...
