Common belief has been that the two first bars on a 70 Challenger R/T grille were not painted black but left in its bright metal anodized finish. The regular Challenger grille only had the first bar left unpainted. My original R/T grille also only had one bar not painted. I found it interesting that Tony's survivor R/T only has about 1/2 a bar not painted black. Bottom line is "never say never" when it comes to Mopars. If you check this video at the 1:07 mark you will see what I mean. Much clearer if you watch the video on a large screen TV.

Nice video!
Thanks everybody for the support :ohyeah:
Here is a shot of my buddies T/A he bought in 1974. It was an all original 1 owner 7000 mile car. Unfortunately it is a scan of a Polaroid and the angle is hard to tell if it has one or two bars un painted.

I downloaded your picture and then I was able to expand it. To me it looks like all the bars were painted black.
Here's the grille out of my T/A. I am pretty sure it was never swapped out.
Yup: That's what I have seen.
:iagree: That's the common way they were done....but it's 1970's Chrysler Quality Control....I'm sure not all of them were 100% exact...even with some sort of masking tool being used...poop happens :alan2cents:
