Title: Priming fuel system
Post by: Mr Lee on March 05, 2020, 04:16:49 PM
I wanted to share an idea I used to prime my fuel system for the first start-up of the rebuilt engine because it worked like a charm.
I took a pickle jar and drilled two holes in the lid.  One small and one large.  Stuck a flexible hose in one and then slipped that over my hard fuel line up by the carburetor.   Then held a shop vac hose over the larger hole.  After about 10 seconds of suction, this drew fuel into the jar.  As soon as you see fuel, pull off the vacuum hose.   Voila!  You now have fuel through the entire line up to the carb.

I also fill the carb through the bowl vents

That sounds like the best way, the priming idea is a good one.
