Post by: RockAuto on May 08, 2020, 09:14:53 AM
KYB is currently offering a rebate on select Shocks, Struts, and Strut / Coil Spring / Mount Assemblies. Now through June 30th, 2020, buy four qualifying KYB products, and receive a pre-paid MasterCard for up to $75! KYB ride control products are vehicle specific and designed to restore or improve upon the original ride quality of the vehicle. Find KYB parts for your car, SUV or truck under the "Suspension" category in the RockAuto catalog (https://www.rockauto.com/?a=May_20_ForumPost). Watch for stars (https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/images/sale5white.png) indicating rebates are available and save even more on RockAuto's already reliably low prices.

I just bought front KYB gas shocks for my 73 Barracuda for $41.00 plus shipping. Autozone wanted $58.00 each for them. Nice deal for anyone needing shocks.

Good deal! Let us know how they ride. Currently have a set of pedestrian Monroe's installed on all 4 corners and they are probably a bit soft. Had KYB's on my Fairlane and remember they are pretty stiff.

Interested too, I also have the Monroes, might be time for an upgrade.

not a fan of rebates at all, last one I did (shocks .... rockauto) I never saw the rebate and the shocks failed after a year and a half anyways. instead of giving a rebate, I'd prefer an upfront discount. just my 2 cents

Well, I didn't qualify for the rebate as I only bought front shocks, but getting them at $20 a piece vs. $58 a piece was the seller for me.

Don't wait that long. My car won't be roadworthy for a long time!

KYBs use digressive valving with high pressure nitrogen.  This means they provide a large amount of resistance very early in travel that tops out and can't provide additional resistance as it reaches the end of travel. So this means on the small, rapid, high frequency bumps encountered on  average roads, they can feel harsh, especially in cars of lesser weight, and on constant, long, sweeping turns they may feel good. This digressive valving means they may struggle to control higher than stock spring rates.

Roads in your area, your driving style, and spring rates in your car can mean these will either feel great and be too harsh.

Here is a good primer on shock rates: https://accutuneoffroad.com/articles/digressive-vs-linear-vs-progressive-pistons-shock-valving/
