Title: 73 rallye hood scoop question
Post by: fireguyfire on June 17, 2020, 02:04:00 PM
The small metal "covers" that screw into the openings of the rallye hood scoop openings on my 73 challenger we're missing when I bought my car.
I ordered a set from year one and they showed up today, and they are a brushed aluminum colour.
Is this the factory finish, or do they need to be painted black?

Black, I think semi gloss, someone else will confirm.

I just took mine off last week to put in a screen. Front is painted satin black. Back side is metal finish. Don't think they are aluminum. Feels like light gauge steel.

I also believe that the correct color is satin black. Actually I am thinking about replacing the inserts with new ones in hi-viz orange or honeycomb motive. Just to see how it looks in combination with my B5 Blue hood.

SEM Trim Black was a perfect match to my original ones.  My originals were aluminum.

I should have taken a picture when I stripped the paint.  They didn't use the nicest stock to stamp them.  Something stuck out at me when I stripped them but I can't remember exactly any more.  There was an imprint of something in the metal.  Circles or something maybe.  The paint hid it but it was there.

Can anyone post a pic of what type of screws hold them in? Mine are long gone
