So time for new tires . . Have white letters now but times are changing . . Thoughts?
I always thought it was a shame our cars weren't offered with some of the cool gold or red line tires like you see on other makes. Polyglas white letter tires look great but you probably want a modern radial. Black wall tires just seem boring to me.
Times are changing, I'm a minimalist, why detract from the clean overall look with white lettering.
Solid black walls will compliment the great lines your car has.
My 70 U code Challenger F8 Quad Green (if I'm reading the build sheet correctly) came with red lines. Now I'm a purist to OCD levels, but I don't think I'd go back with them if someone GAVE me a NOS set with factory air still in them. I'm in for the Polyglass white letter shoes.

You're not reading the build sheet correctly. Redlines were not an option on an E Body.

Couldn't agree more...unless you have some sort of larger rim like 17" -20" then black wall tires look terrible in my opinion. You need white lettered tires :bigthumb:
I'll dig into it again, Alan. That's good to hear.

Have you used our "broadcast sheet decoder" ...it's a reliable source of correct 1970 build sheet decoding https://decoder.e-bodies.org/1970-mopar-build-sheet-broadcast-decoder/
White letters for sure.
Anyone make radials that say Polyglas on the sidewalls to make them look original but are still radials?
I think they only offer them in 14 inch for now:

They look bad in that photo but better in real I believe. These cars just look right with raised white letters IMO.
I am with Sheldon, They just look out of place without RWL tire's. :alan2cents:
I'd love to see a black e body with the twin red stripe tires. Though not correct, I bet it would look awesome. The white twin stripe tires are correct for my Barracuda but I know they will ride like crap compared to the modern white wall tires on it now. I still like the look though.

Times are changing, but generally not for the better IMHO. If you want to be current, you probably shouldn't still be driving cars from the 70s. Another vote for RWLs. :alan2cents:

Appears I have a problem parting with things . . This is the first car I ever bought in 1982. Just can't seem to let it go . . Then I found out they made convertibles . . . :drunk:
Yeah the ragtops really opened my eyes to these cars. I always loved them but now that I have one in a drop top, I can't imagine every letting it go.
E vert's rock..... that is all.... :burnout:
Premium quality tires would far outweigh RWL or not if it was my car .
My vote is white letter tires. Without a doubt.

In your picture, it looks like you have white outlined letters. Do they still make those in the size you need? How did you like those tires on the road?

I think you can buy white letters to glue to your black wall tires. I remembers seeing a company advertise that they will do any font and will do replica letters. This way, you can get great handling tires, and still have "polyglass" on the sides to replicate what the car would have come with. It may cost more, but you will have the look and the feel you want.
I just did a quick search for Tire Stickers. Lots of options. Here is one

That's what these Nitto "Radial T/A" tires are. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200629/a4f3becbbac3b14121aac7af1f35d14b.jpg)

Diamond Back Tires can do any of these combinations you may be interested in, red line, gold line, blue line, witewall. They can make them in vintage sizes or modern 17 or 18 inch diameters too.

Ditch the old school wheels and go with a more modern 17". Tire selection will increase and blackwall will look good on a black on black car. :alan2cents: You might be able to find a similar style wheel in a 17".

I have been considering that option. If I do decide to do that, will put them on the convertible first. Already been thinking about new rims on that . . .
I would get Nitto 555 drag radials , I actually have 295 50 15 on my Chall
Or MT drag radials
