Title: Passenger sport mirror
Post by: Rich G. on August 17, 2020, 04:39:22 PM
Is there any way to tighten the mirror glass in the housing. I took it apart when I painted it but forgot what it looks like inside. When you hit bumps the mirror glass moves down pretty easy.

I just happen to have a 1971 Cuda in my shop today waiting on new mirror glass.

The mirror mount is held on a ball with a rectangular shaped piece of spring steel which is held in place by two peened over studs. Yours may have let go on one of those studs.
I think the only way to "tighten" it up would be to remove the glass. If one of those studs have let go, you might be able to drill and screw it together with some success  :dunno:

I tried to describe it better but from your picture and description it appears that the pivot ball is where it is lose not the glass moving on the mount. I was able to sneak a screwdriver in to take the 2 screws out that held the glass in when I painted it so if I get ambitious I'll have to take a look inside .
