Title: radio wiring
Post by: GoMangoBoys on August 19, 2020, 02:09:48 PM
I want to sell my AM radio out of our car.  We bought a reproduction one with bluetoothe etc.  In order to advertise it, I want to see if it works.  Can anyone tell me what wires are the power ground?  I am assuming that orange and brown are the power wires and the green and black are the speaker wires, but I hate to ASSume.
Thanks.

You should have a red wire that is the 12V power wire. Orange is for the light inside the radio. The radio gets grounded through the case. The other wires are for the speakers.  :alan2cents:

I will have to go look more closely.  Maybe the brown one is a red one covered with dirt???

The two wire connector with the orange wire in your picture...the other wire should be your 12V power wire. Connect it to 12V, ground the case, hook up one or two speakers and turn it on. Easy to bench test a radio.

Don't forget to plug in an antenna.  Better reception if tested outdoors too.  :bigthumb:
