Concerned citizens have recently informed me of a "no brakes lights" on the right side. Checked the plug in the left A pillar. All good, ran power to the lights, no issues. Checked from pillar to column - good continuity there too. I'm thinking my turn signal switch is having an issue (?). Before I tear the column apart, am I missing anything? Yes looked at brake light switch also, thats not the issue
Isn't the right side and left side brake lights on the same circuit ? How would one work and not the other ?
Left and right / different wire off the colum
Exactly power from the brake light switch goes up to the turn signal switch where ti splits so either side can be interupted so the signal works , , I would agree that the turn signal switch is where the problem is likely to be . :bigthumb:

Interesting...so I agree with you guys...sounds like a signal switch issue...an odd one for sure.
Actually very common , these 50 year old switches tend to have issues , JS / Jim can rebuild them so you can keep the original switch .
Brake & turn signal both use the same circuit & light the same bulbs so it has to be separated so the other side doesn't flash when turning
Makes total sense with the "not flashing when braking" I never thought of that. :worship:
95% of the cars I work with get new switches installed during the restoration, so it's an issue I haven't seen a lot of. :tool:
Try making sure you have good grounds from the socket I had to add a grounds to all the rear and side markers for them to work.
