so I just picked up a 70 cuda and the seats are what looks like vinyl trim and cloth inserts. Is this original or aftermarket? there is a note on my decode of the fender tag that says cloth inlay (black or shite)

It would be on the fender tag.
Post up a picture of the fender tag and the seats for verification.

Do they look like this?

no they are just black cloth and the fender tag says x9
