Title: Rod orientation
Post by: GoMangoBoys on January 03, 2021, 01:18:56 PM
We are assembling our engine and I want to verify that we did it right.  We installed the rods with the tang toward Tempe outside of the block.  This put the chamfered side of the rod towards the counterweights and the flat sides of the rods toward each other.  Please verify that this is correct.
Thanks.

Yes, the machine shop did when they hung the pistons.

Yes they are correct. The chamfered side of the rod toward the counterweights so they match up with the radius on the crank journals. Do the pistons have valve reliefs? Are they on the rods correctly?

I believe that the reliefs are oriented correctly.
