Hoping you are all well. I took off the AC components, saved them for possible put back.
Am getting hot air now thru AC ducts. What should i do to correct?
Thanks
Rick
Maybe disconnect your heater hoses and just loop them ?
Thanks, would you or anyone have pics of that method?
This is a heater hose bypass loop. Used when you do not want to send coolant to your heater core.
You would need to verify hose diameter. I temporarily hooked one up last year while rebuilding my AC heater box, evaporator and heater core. I used the bypass at the AC control valve.
The other option is to connect your two heater hoses together with a dual ended barb fitting and some hose clamps.
I could be wrong here, but I'm thinking that the doors in your heater/AC box are not functioning correctly or are disconnected. You don't get hot air through the AC vents with the AC components hooked up and the AC off, why should you get it through the AC vents now just because you AC lines are disconnected? Seems to me it shouldn't make any difference whether the AC lines are hooked up or not as to whether you get hot air through the AC vents unless your car had one of those in line valves in the inlet heater hose that shuts off the flow of hot water to the heater core and you removed that also?? :alan2cents:
Thanks. Left the inline valve in. Which of the 2 suggestions should I use?

Have you tried manually opening and closing the inline valve to see if that changes the amount of heated air radiating out of the ducts?
Hi, did not, will do tonight. Thanks for the help.

Oh. yea, if that is still in, just make sure that it is in the closed position.
You betcha!
So yes, i manually closed the valve and still hot air. Have driven the vehicle now with the valve off and on.
Hot air still both ways.
This is a fun topic and has been discussed a couple of times here. I also removed my AC and left the AC heater box, which is much different from a non-AC heater box. This is my recommendation:
Don't loop your heater hoses unless you never want heat in your car. If you don't ever want heat, you can loop your hoses.
If you are still using your AC heater box, nothing is probably wrong with any of the doors or functionality of the box. The AC heater box works in conjunction with the "temperature control valve" mounted on the passenger fender well. If you want heat in your car, you will have to run a "temperature control valve". When you don't want heat, just shut the valve.
I used a factory looking valve but other types are available. See photo.
Thanks Headedm: do not need heat in the car. Engine gives off plenty. In the winter months only drive it when roads are clean and no salt.
Anyway, would prefer to loop the hoses. Do you or someone on this site have a photo of what it should look like?
Thanks
Hi usraptor, headejm was kind enough to suggest couple methods. Do you have any pictures of the bypass method?
Thanks
It was skidmark that suggested the bypass hose. I don't have any info on that. :('
ok thanks
I'm almost done my AC car. Right now I don't have any underhood ac parts installed other than the heater lines and fan Are you saying I won't have heat? I can turn my blower motor on and off.
I have the AC box but no temperature control valve. Where can these be purchased?
Not sure how original you are trying to keep your underhood area. I went with a factory looking valve that worked with the factory fender bracket (see photo above). I bought it on Ebay but the history of the order is gone.
Another option is a company called 4 Seasons. They sell different kinds of valves on Amazon, Ebay, Summit, Rock Auto, etc. Here is a valve that should work but you have several options. You probably want a cable operated valve like the original (and you can use the cable that goes to your dash lever).
Is that four seasons style correct for a 71 Cuda? Does anyone have a number for a factory style one?
Also could you post a picture of what the factory style looks like?
Thanks
1970 factory-looking style valve.
Thanks for the pictures. Both adds say 70 to 74 e body is your style for the 70 and the other style for a 71 and up? Do the 71and up have the mounting plate attached or is that separate like the 70?
I found a old thread. The 71 is the silver one. I just ordered it up. Thanks again for all the help.

Hi Skidmark, would you happen to have any photos of this bypass method in place?
Not sure where to install it.
Thanks
If you are eliminate heater core wouldn't it just jump from the intake to the water pump depending on motor size?
Remove the two short length heater hoses that go from the heater control valve to the firewall/heatercore. Pictures 1-2
Put a pair of rubber caps on the heater core nipples sticking out from the firewall (you might want to siphon out the coolant trapped in the heater core).
On the backside of the heater control valve install the bypass hose with a pair of hose clamps. Picture 3
I picked up my bypass hose and rubber caps from my local auto parts store (Advanced, Autozone etc.)
Should take about 5 minutes.
Pics below. The image with the bypass hose shows it laying on top of where it should be installed.
Hi Sdkmark, nothing like photos, this is want i was looking for. Just curious, what happens if i do not siphon out the core?
Thanks

Nothing really, other than having coolant sitting in the heater core not being moved around the cooling system. Worst case your heater core develops a leak and you get a wet passenger side foot well.
I used the bypass setup temporarily so I could still use the car while I was having my heater core rebuilt by Glen-ray. Once I got my heater core back I reconnected the heater lines.
Thanks, will siphon the liquid out
Have a good weekend
Banana out
Skdmark, installed the u-shaped hose, cool outside flowing thru, thanks to you and all the other members for helping.
Glad to help.
:thankyou: :unitedstates:
