Not to highjack this thread but it's also IFFD (International Fire Fighters Day). A buddy of mine is a retired one.

Yes. It's my wife's and my 45th wedding anniversary today. So far, the line from the movie "live long and prosper" is coming true.

:dunno:I can truthfully say I have never seen any of the Star Wars or other science fiction movies in my lifetime. I find science fiction, video games and golf boring. I don't do any of those.  :)

I wore my shirt to work today.  I'm sure my Sub contractors just loved it.

I also called my friend who is a fire chief in a very dangerous part of Colorado and thanked him for his service. He has given a lot for the protection of his and his surrounding communities.  Even better than Star Wars.

I've seen all the star wars in the theatre with the exception of the clone wars movie.        I missed it and they have not re run it at the theatre.  Oh wait, I did not see Solo either.
Too young to remember the first movie.   But my folks assure me I was there.

On another note Disney + dropped a new Clone Wars Series...The Bad Batch....I watched some of it, but I can't really get into the animated stuff..

Post by: cuda hunter on May 06, 2021, 10:01:02 AM
That's really too bad.  I grew to really enjoy the animated stuff after watching the first clone wars. I even enjoyed the rebels series.  Very cool how they bring the actual movies together with the animated series.  They are a must watch if you follow the series.
I can say I have not seen the mandalorian as I'm not into watching things on the internet.  Or wherever you get it from.

But, Disney sucks.  They are on a slippery slope.  I don't even have kids and I am disgusted.  Doesn't help that California has had them closed for 9 extra months.  And no one is going to movie theatres.  If disney keeps putting their politics into their "entertainment" they are bound to loose and we will loose the star wars franchise.  Which I feel was unfortunate that disney purchased it.  Even if they have cash to make movies and such.

EDIT: by Cuda Cody to assure we keep everything PG. The message is still the same.

Sorry about that Cody.  I should have known better and know what I did and will not repeat that. My mistake folks.

Non political post here though. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/disney-asks-employees-to-complete-white-privilege-checklist-and-insists-us-was-founded-on-systemic-racism-leaked-documents-show/ar-BB1gvGpG?li=BBnb7Kz

Just in case any of you want to support a group that says you are the problem with society.  Read that thread.
I'm no cancel culturist.   But I will not support those who oppose ME.

Really unfortunate as I really like star wars.

Have any of you ever seen the 1978 star wars holiday special.

Prepare yourself if you have not.  This is by far the worst star wars production ever.  and weirdest.  But worth watching once in your life.

The only thing that was good from the Holiday Special is the cartoon introducing Boba Fett.

@cuda hunter (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cuda-hunter_176)
I can not recommend the Mandalorian enough to old school SW fans.
It really brought back kid-like excitement for me after decades of disappointment. My favorite character has always been Boba Fett, so I'm biased to begin with.

The film technology nicknamed "The Volume", developed for the Mandalorian is changing the way movies will be made. It's the next big leap in movie making.

I saw the movie a few times during 1977. The Star Wars craze was strong that year. At the time, it was groundbreaking and created lifelong fans.

I was born in 76.  Parents took me to the first movie when I was 2.

Actually had not seen the 78 special until about 10 years ago. And I understand why it was buried.
Although I can skim through the movie and laugh at the funny parts.  I think the grandpa watching  porn is pretty funny.
The mom making food in the kitchen to a tv cooking show.   The huge hats on some of the bad guys.
It's no wonder where Spaceballs got some of it's ideas.

And go to 16.01 on the 78 special.  Sorry I don't know how to screen shot a video.  Maybe someone out there does.

What service do I HAVE to subscribe to in order to see the show?

The TV special was highly anticipated. I recall watching it when it first aired. I don't recall my reaction to it. Most likely, it was favorable because we couldn't get enough of Star Wars at the time. I rewatched it a few years ago on YT & was surprised how cheesy it was. But, most 70's TV didn't holdup well. With only 3 channels, you took what they dished out.

Never thought about it that way. My family didn't even have more than 3 channels until 1988 or so.
Probably was great television in 78.   Virtual reality pornography.  I'm sure that was an interesting thought way back then.

The Mandalorian is on Disney+. I've known people who subscribed for a month, binged the Mandalorian, then cancelled.
It winds up being about 0.50 cents an episode ($8 / 16 episodes)

However, it can be found through other means on the internet.

If you like family guy they did a trio of star wars specials that, imo, were hilarious.
The the videos come as a set called "Laugh it up fuzzball"

Not political.  But since there are star wars supporters here I figured I would at least give you the opportunity to read the disney employee requirements class.   Support them and you support what they are teaching their employees.

It's just a few things that we can do to help society according to disney.
