Title: Marking connecting rods
Post by: MRM82 on May 23, 2021, 04:13:08 AM
How are you guys marking both the connecting rods and matching caps before you remove them. Do you use a stamp kit, electric etcher or some kind of paint marker? I was reading online about stamping them is a bad practice to do ( stress maybe) ?? Also where abouts on the rod and cap do you place the marks ? Thanks !

Having a set of number or letter stamps is ideal but I've used a center punch to achieve the same goal with matching dimples also, depending on the Connecting Rod design find a flat spot like the side area.

Most rods are already stamped unless this is a new set , I agree you need to stamp them with #s
