Hey all. Could use some advice on effective glue residue remover. I'm restoring a nice set of body side moldings for my 70 RT. I used a heat gun to remove the rubber/vinyl inserts (worked nicely), yet the 51 year old glue film is flipping the bird to acetone, reducer, lighter fluid, medical adhesive remover, PPG wax and grease remover, Goof Off, Goo Gone, etc. even a quarter sized dremel buffing wheel with heavy cut compound won't budge it (thought that'd be the big win). Anyone had luck with any other type of solvents? :headbang:
Have you tried 3M?
I just now tried this and it cut it immediately on a junk test piece. It's an old can I had with barely any pressure left in it. Doesn't appear to be causing any reaction with the metal or the finish. Wicked stuff. I may proceed with this if I don't hear of any further ideas. Even if I have to drill the can to use what's still in it.
Little late to the party, but I was going to recommend this :
Worked well, thanks all. PS...use gloves
Where are the vinyl inserts? What are you doing with them? How are you cleaning them and what are you reinstalling them with?
Got it. Thanks!
I figured there was a thread on the car somewhere. :waving:
