Title: textured grill paint?
Post by: GoMangoBoys on July 13, 2021, 09:17:35 AM
We are into restoring the grill assembly for our Challenger R/T.  I was all set to paint the grill with the dark argent silver paint.  Fortunately, at Carlisle last weekend, I learned that an R/T should have satin black paint instead of silver.  I saw that some were textured and some were smooth paint.  Which is right?  I can say that the large flat filler piece between the grill and the bumper has some dents that I have pounded out.  It is still not perfect and a textured paint would help me hide some sins.
Please advise.

Smooth satin black.  SEM trim black is a perfect color for it.  Trim Black is very sensitive to humidity.  High humidity will make it turn out completely flat.  You need to spray it in low humidity to get it to turn out satin.

There used to be a nice close-up picture of Dave Walden's Challenger online.  Not sure if it's still there or not.  It showed exactly how an original should look.
