Title: lifter problem
Post by: GoMangoBoys on February 06, 2022, 08:34:56 AM
We were moving forward this morning on the engine build and ran into a snag.  We noticed one had a mark on it and determined that it was an inclusion.  It is basically a little divot in the side of the lifter.  It measures about 35-40 thousandths across.  I have no way to measure how deep.  I bought these from Hughes engines about 1 1/2 years ago.  I plan to call them on Monday but wanted to get some input from you all first since there is a lot of knowledge here.
Thanks

Even if you have to pay for a new lifter, I wouldn't use it and buy/use a replacement.  Over time that could cause premature wear to the lifter bore.

Hughes Engines agreed to swap me for a new lifter.  I say "you will always have problems.  It is what you do about them that counts."
