I'm looking to modify my existing original 73 bumper to fit in nice and snug. I'm fully prepared to cut up my original brackets to make this happen. Weld up the slots for the jack etc and paint the bumper body color after I'm done. Does anyone have any pictures of what you did to make this happen. And also, I was trying to find the info myself, but in that quest, I also saw mention of getting rid of that big old heavy steel insert. Will also take advice on the front bumper too!
I just bought the 1972 brackets. I welded the brackets to the bumper and ground everything nice and smooth. The bumpers were then painted body color.
That seems easy! Thanks.
70-72 bumper brackets would simplify the process, but your plan would work too. Cut the brackets in half, bolt them in place, trim and weld them back together right where you want them :dunno: You'll have the toss the grey rubber bumper filler piece too...
I have a pair if you need them.
