Title: Deck Lid Molding - Attachment
Post by: BluRaySRT on August 31, 2022, 03:15:50 PM
I would like to add the deck lid molding to the tail end of my Cuda.   The molding came with a set of plastic clips which I believe are for the trunk lid molding.   The metal clips appear to be for the one on the quarter panels.    I have been trying to figure out how these are supposed to attached to both the molding and the car.  It appears that the plastic post would go into a hole drilled into the deck lid.   However,  the clip does not seem to fit into the space available inside the molding.   I may have this completely wrong,  but I'm not drilling any holes until I can test this and the fitment.  Thanks for any help.

The split open end goes in the hole and then you push the pin in ( tap in with a hammer ) . That holds the fasteners to the car and the trim snaps on to that. Most repo trim requires their clips to work. The metal ones are for the curved ends. Hey slide on the trim first.

In my opinion, you've got the completely wrong clip kit....the kit you have looks like the 70-71 tail panel molding clip kit. :alan2cents:
They are very similar except the correct clips are a lot wider....in your first picture, the clip should be turned 90*
