Title: Glove box knob spinning
Post by: Katfish on March 14, 2023, 05:09:26 PM
I can't open my globebox, the knob just spins and the latch doesn't release.
It's not keyed, just a solid knob.

Any ideas on how to get it unlatched and opened?

Bummer, mine spins too but luckily it is a locking one so it works with the key. But still a pain. Hopefully someone will have some tips.  :dunno:

If worse comes to worse, go in from the back and unscrew the latch.
You'll destroy the cardboard box in the process.

unfortunately you can just pull the chrome knob off and then pull the tumbler out of the latch assy. Will break the lip off the latch and then will come out. New parts will be needed.

Got it unlatched.
Started drilling the small pin hole in the knob.
It popped open as the first drill bit went through the knob.

It was spinning because the knob is just staked to the inner assembly.
It had come apart and crapped out.

I guess the pressure of drilling it put enough force to turn and unlocked it.
