Title: 71 barracuda
Post by: cuda hunter on May 14, 2023, 03:19:52 PM
I would like to ask of your expert brains again on this car.
It's a 71 bh barracuda.
I have video of it running as well but can't post video here.
Has a 340 in it right now as it is "cloned".
Don't have much description yet as I am due to talk to the owner.
Found it through a friend of mine so it is not available to the general public.
All I know is it is garaged, cloned and runs good.

What I can see.
Door panels are from a Cuda.  Not original to the car.  But I could be wrong, just looks like the cuda emblem is not in place.
Has an aftermarket auto shifter
Has a ding on the header panel drivers side.
Front bumper appears to be bent out and in at the same time.  Center punched in therefore bending the other parts out.
Lives under a tarp in a garage.
Missing piece of trim on drivers left lower steering column.
Cyclops instrument cluster.
Blacked out engine bay, it's been chebbeized.
Paint looks clean, but with the engine bay blacked out I question all the paint job.
Added go wing
Added billboard

A93 coupe package
G15 tinted windshield  - first I have seen just a tinted windshield and not the rest of the glass
N95 emissions control  -as an option, not on an LA car?
EL5 butterscotch bottom and top
D13 3 speed manual trans

What's the question ?
Value ?
or
Asking Price ?
Depends on whether or not the owner watches Barret Jackson or not ? :haha: :haha:

haha, agree about BJ.

WIW asked in the WIW section.
I was told 50K.  Not so sure about that.  Seems a lot high, but what do I know?

Opinions on the value of the car.

So it is indeed worth a minimum of 40K with those options.
No rust.  Decent paint. Needing several things here and there.

Basically any 71 is worth 40K if it runs and is in decent shape?

In today's market, that's a fair assessment in my opinion

N95 indicates that the car was made for someone in, and delivered to the state of California. N95 is not an option, it is mandatory for any car delivered to California in the 1971  model year.

OH man, prices have gone nuts.

I wouldn't pay more than $30k for it myself, but I'm not in the market either.

@198D13 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/198d13_124) - Safe to say that if the car (71 model) was first sold in California, it should have the N95 on the fender tag, correct?

N95, the cruel joke that deletes the Cuda package exhaust tips.

That would be in 1970, not 1971.

A93 coupe package.

Yes, either the interior mirror was upgraded from factory, or it has been changed somewhere along the way. Do any of your pictures show the plastic plugs used on 1971 A93 cars for the rear panels where the rollup handles would go?
Does the owner still have the original 318 for the car? And what of the original three speed shifter? And transmission?

I have very little information at this moment.
When the owner returns to the state I will have a chance to go check out the car.
As I was informed it is a clone car.
So I expect that there are no parts.
The interior window crank plugs should be chrome on the 71 bh a93.
My 71 is a bh a93 with rusty chrome plugs on a white interior.

Everything has been changed, including the engine bay color.  Yuck.  It's been chebyized.
Billboard, wing, emblems, engine, trans, mirrors, color.  Literally everything appears to have been "cloned".
