Title: 440 header install question
Post by: Zshowket on September 13, 2023, 08:08:59 AM
Have a 70 with 440 currently in good running order. I am going to swap the heads in the car.  I know headers on a big block can be a nightmare so I am wondering if this would make it easier to do it at the same time?

I would definitely do it at the same time.  Various headers offer varying problems.  My son and I dropped a 440 into his wagon.  We used the 1 3/4" TTI units.  They went in very easily without any hassle.

On the other hand, I used 2" Dougs headers on the big block in my Challenger.  They have almost as good as rep as the TTI but are cheaper.  It was no fun at all.  On the other hand, the plugs might be easier to swap than on the TTI.  All it takes is about three different wrenches and be willing to do a couple from the bottom if not feeling particularly dexterious LOL

I guess we could ask what heads & Headers do you plan to use .
I would be careful with the selection of both some heads are not worth swapping & some headers are a nightmare to work with .
