Hello everyone. I'm wanting to increase the wheel and tire size on the rear of my 74 'Cuda to a 15X8 rallye and run a 275/60/15 tire if possible. The car has a stock width e-body Dana 60 with cal-trac's and calvert racing split mono-leaf springs. It has stock wheel tubs and the quarter panel lips have not been rolled. Is this a pretty standard wheel and tire combination for an e-body without having to modify the body of the car or suspension?
My car currently has a 15x7 wheel with a 215/60/15 and I'm wanting to fill out the wheel well with a larger tire for a better stance, but I don't want to deal with it rubbing.
All I can say is you might be ok and you might not, depending on your overall build.

My brother is running 15x8's on his Challenger with 4 1/2" backspacing, 245/60/15 up front and 255/60/15 in the back. Ground up restored/rebuilt, everything new. Oversize torsion bars, strut rods, tie rods, front and rear sway bars. At first everything was ok but as the car settled in he began to find some minor rubbing issues at the front fenders.
It was a 14" wheel car originally, one thing to keep in mind is when 15" wheels were ordered the factory added lower control arm bump stop spacers like these.

We overlooked this at first so will add them to hopefully correct the issue.
I am running 15x8 with 245/60 all around.
No rubbing in the rear, but would expect some with 275's. The front bump spacers only come in to play when bottoming out, so no effect at ride height.
I did have to modify my fenders to clear the tires when turning. I cut the fender edge from body line down and overlapped it. With the moulding on you can't see it except up close.
When I repaint, I will butt weld it proper.
The 15x8 with 275/60x15 rear combo is what most of us run on Cudas and Challengers.
You should have no issues.
15x7 with 225/70x15 works great on the front.

That's exactly the combination I'm running on my '70 'Cuda with no issues. However, I'm running American 5 spoke mags, not rallye wheels. I originally ran them with old school "slapper" traction bars but just installed Calvert's Cal Trac traction bars with no issues.

Yes the rear 8" wide mags have 4.5" backspacing. The front wheels are 7" wide and they have 3.75" backspacing.

15 x 8.5 with 4.75bs custom made Rallyes.
Tires are 275/60/15s.
All stock with even sagging leafs.
No fender lips rolled.
Zero rub issues.
I have run 15x8 on the rear with 4-1/2" b.s with 295/50/15's with all factory everything and all cleared fine on my Challenger. I now have those same wheels and tires on my Charger with no issues.
I have now mini-tubbed and moved my springs inboard with Caltracs and split mono leafs with 315/60/15 Drag Radials on a 15x12" wheel, still with the factory wheel openings.
I got the wheels and tires on the car this afternoon and I'm very happy with the way it looks. Thanks for the input everyone. I would also like to thank the board sponsor Roseville Moparts.
