Title: Harness plug cushions?
Post by: BIGSHCLUNK on May 06, 2018, 09:58:36 AM
I dont even know what these are actually called. Its the cushion inside the plug. Can you buy these? Found nothing on ebay. I dont need a "set" for the entire car either. Just the firewall terminal block.

They are supposed to seal the connection, they barely worked when new... The easiest fix it to put a good amount of dielectric grease in the connector shell before you plug it together....... Two products you should have when working on bulkhead connectors....

Jim at Detroit Muscle Technologies makes them. I rarely use those. I buy the kits for use on the dash harness restorations bulkhead and adapter mount I offer. If you want to order a whole set, Jim is the guy. GEN7074BH01. Or if you only want the harness connector gaskets, send me an email and I will send a set out this coming week. They are laser cut and may be hard to see in the picture, but there are there, along with the cuts for the terminals to poke through.

Yes contact cleaner is a good idea . Didn't think of that. If you look close I think you can see dielectric grease in one of the pics.... I put that on as a "helper" (band aid) 3-4 years ago
