Title: Engine paint ?
Post by: bentpshrods on June 02, 2018, 12:38:07 PM
My 71 340 engine was painted blue originally. (SPD 421)   It's orange now, but while I have the motor out to change the cam/intake I thought I would change it back to corporate blue. Trying to find out which paint supplier has a good match and works well. Opinions are varied.  Was looking at Totally Auto spray cans--2 cans with shipping was about  $70.00. Mopar performance engine paint thru summit with my parts order is only $12.00 a can. Some one mentioned Frank Badelson and he has pints for $60.00. I'm putting on my six pack setup so I want to paint the lid blue also. Just don't know if a pint will be enough.  Any other suggestions.

I've always used the Mopar Performance paints with good results ..... (pic 1)

:alan2cents: IMO I'd rethink the "blue" air cleaner lid, the blue performance engines still had orange air cleaners '71-'74 (pic 2)
